Thats the plan. Im gettin things ready so I can do it in a few weeks. I plan on doing spark plugs and air filter while Im in there. I believe I can get some shims one day shipping from amazon so I might do that if it needs adjusting. If I decide to put a manual cam chain tensioner how do you determine how tight to make the chain?

Here's a little cheat sheet I made up for how to cycle the ABS pump using a jumper wire. I made it so it could be folded up really small and kept under my seat:

I made a jumper wire out of an electronic test lead from amazon. The jumper and the cheat sheet all fit in this little packet under the seat.

If you want a full size copy of the cheat sheet, I can post a PDF of it on here.
A bent paper clip works as a simple jumper.

I did it the hillbilly Way and squeezed my brakes on some grass. worked great
That's how I used to do it. But if you're flushing your brakes, it's a waste of time to stop what you're doing to take the bike outside, cycle the ABS on some gravel or wet grass, then take the bike back inside to finish the bleeding process. If you use the on-board method, you don't have to move the bike.

I just finished my first valve adjustment at 39000 km(24000 mi). It is definitely a pita, worst I've done, but doable. However I would still like to give the Yamaha engineer a swift kick in the balls lol.
I had 3 tight exhaust valves and the fourth was at the bottom of spec. Was still running fine.

Are you only talking about the exhaust valves...and the intake valves? Did you also remove the intake camshaft?

Intakes we're all dead in the middle of spec. Didn't pull the intake cam.
I was asking, because I have seen some users also remove the intake cam, even when the valves were within the range (although not all the same), perhaps to leave all the intake valves with the same clearance, which complicates the task even more….
