I can believe how cheap all these modded Tenere's are going for. Am I missing something? I'm loving everything about this motorcycle. Are we the minority? Do you all think the Tenere is going to be in production for a few years or do you think they will pull the plug in a year or so?

i wish that i had the money. i would buy this and then take the grips off and re-sell this for a little more than what i paid for it minus the grips. hahaha

seriously- that is too good of a deal. i know that times are super tough right now up here and desperate people do desperate things. i know that i am down-sizing into a lower rent place and cutting a few other corners but i will not let go of this bike.

Just my opinion, but I think there are some people that will drop out the first year for many different reasons. Divorce, medical, loss of job, and just don't ride it enough.

I almost did it, but am glad I stuck with it. I think the bike will be around for awhile and won't change much except for small things and color.

I also think the bike will drop around 20% in the first year, and then level off.
The bike in question does not really have many high priced farkles, and if the owner bought it right it is not in the 20% loss scenario yet.

I have a lot of money in mine and still think I would take the initial loss. ::022::

Credit is easy to get, then when the payment reminders start coming in, people re-evaluate how much they actually want the bike.
I'm a single guy, no serious debt, i don't mind the elements, I wouldn't travel any other way at this point in my life, I got the tenere, love it. And my bike is pretty damn stock aside from panniers, that farkle bug doesn't bite me until i find myself needing to expand my horizions. The engine is fine, a little frumpy in first gear at low RPM but that would be my only complaint. ::002::
perhaps my next purchase is a skidplate, but i think this bike fills a great void. There is always room for improvements but with the time you spend getting the perfect bike but for me, the miles bring the smiles. The mods will come if they come, i'll still get where I want to go.

What you're seeing is the result of people who need to get out of something they jumped into too fast so they sell dirt cheap just hoping to get rid of it. What they SHOULD do is take off the accessories and sell them and the bike separately

I called and talked to the guy. It appears he is primarily selling it as he spends more time on his sailboat(s) than riding. Though compared to many, many folks that ride bikes, putting on 5.5miles in a year isn't that bad. However, some of us (some one who forwarded me this link - craziness I tell you as it was referred to as a temptation) put on over 40k miles in a year.

I wish I had more time to spend on my sailboat, but there is no way I'd sell my S10, even if I was sailing daily like I used to! :) Gotta get to the boat somehow, and it tends to accumulate less junk in the cabin/lockers if you don't use 4 wheels to get there. Besides, unless you head south with the boat, it gets pretty chilly after mid-December... good time to point the bike south instead!
