............I need more power!!!!!!!!

Ok we all have kick ass ST. I love my bike and I am still setting it up. As you may know I am shooting for a Canada/Alaska trip this June. Well I have my shoulder surgery the Friday after Xmas.........so the race is on to get some stuff done. I always knew I would do the clutch jumper switch and immediately I changed out my bars. When I did I added grips and simply mounted my switch in the upper left corner opposite my cig adapter (now the mounting hole seen). I soon did my wings and it was a close one, but it all squeezed in OK. Always got to have tunes when I ride so I bought a iPhone holder and put on a USB port to keep her juiced up. Well I got some heated gear about 2 months ago, Santa has a spot messenger for me, and there MAY be a communicator 2 pack for me and the wife under the tree........

Did I mention that when I was at March Moto Madness the guy from Twisted Throttle was there and bashed the ST compared to the BMW for ABS and the TC. Well I showed him how to turn TC off and then I simply had a wire coming out of my ABS fuse with a male/female connector that was elect taped to my throttle cables. Turns out TS sells a kit just like mine only looks cooler....... ::)

Well I needed to make a mount for some switches and power. So the engineering process began about a week ago, I tried mounting it to the center piece that goes between the headlights but it was too low and too close to the back of the lamps. I also felt I needed it longer so I could add stuff down the road.

Well I made a mount across the whole thing and utilized my old heated grip hole. Here is what I came up with:

I got the idea of a meter from my friend, heated gear/grips and extra lights on draws power. With no way to kick start a dead battery can kill us. I did chose blue for obvious reasons. I like the looks and it took me a few tries to get it to work and look right. Made on jig and mess my first one up. This one has a error too but I am keeping my mouth shut............

I will use the one to left to power up Spot and my iPhone via a USB drop in. My heated grip is next then ABS MOD going to the right. I use the original cig adapter fro my GPS. I have more room if I need something else. The clutch mod in on the bars left side, on/off switch.

This is what I came up with.

Switches are for (L-R) Clutch switch bypass, LED flood lights, heated grips, cruise control, and heated seats.
The handlebar mount is easy to reach on the fly but it does interfere with my tank bag a bit at full turn. I have been thinking about redoing it and going to a panel like yours. Looks nice. What volt meter did you use? Can you see it well in the sunlight? mine is red and hard to read in direct sunlight.

I have YET to use mine (dash), I just finished it up the other day.

that is the ebay linky, yea my bike is blue and so is the meter.

I do like the other dash that is built in the same spot as mine, I like to circular look. I looked at hiwaydirt bikes for a mount that went on my bars. But I was worried it would interfear with my bag and I did not want to run all those wires up to it.

I did mount a USB port on my cross bars that I am planning on using to keep the communicator charged up.

Buelligan, are those pop rivets? If so how do you plan on changing out your headlamps? I made mine removable so I could but it MAY be easier to pull the assy to get to them. I did reach up and see if I could get my hand to the covers.

I tapped the holes on the dash to accept 10X32 screws :)

I like how it looks, I probably would have made mine more similar to yours if I had not needed to cover my original switch hole.

Buelligan, great looking dash, exactly what I need! Where did you get the plastic material to make it out of? I want to mount two powerlets and a few switches.

Great job and it looks factory!

I made my dash out of 1/8" aluminum plate I found laying around at work. I spray painted it semi-gloss black.
Thanks for the complements, I really wanted to close up that big ugly hole below the gauges, and be able to mount a few things as well.
I'm very pleased with the results, and it has survived 2 years with no issues.
I had made four originally, and gave the others out as swag at the Tenere gathering last summer in Ouray.
