You too, forum members!!! If it wasn't for you and Yamaha, I'd still be riding along the highways on my trusty old Honda ST1100, mindlessly dreaming about the next bike. But now, because of you, yes, all you owners who seem to sing the praises of this "bullet proof" bike, I put money down on a 2014 ES.

Damn you!!! ::013::

Welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of the Super Ten, Dmcleane! A good friend of mine had a 1990 ST1100, kept it for about ten years, and I don't think it missed a beat the whole time he owned it. They are a totally reliable bike, and fortunately, so is the Super Tenere. Enjoy!

My last bike was a nice 2002 ST1100 with ABS. It was great for gobbling up miles but I found that I never road it around town. It was just too big and not fun anymore. My ST10 however is a different story. It's fun around town and I won't have to ride on past when I see a cool dirt road heading into the wild. I think you'll be happy. After my first ride on the ST10, my mind went back to the days when I had been riding around on my Suzuki 90 enduro and someone loaned me a Honda XL250. I discovered torque for the first time. It's addicting.

Thank you all, I'm really looking forward to riding this bike many miles.

pnelson, you took the words right out of my mouth. This is what I'm looking for. Did I see you over on STOC-owners talking about your new STen? Looks like lots of Honda ST owners going to the Super Tenere. It seems to fill the bill the LD riders are looking for plus the ability to follow the less than paved roads.

Yes, that was me but it could have been several others as the Honda ST to Yamaha ST move seems to be a popular one. Update - I installed a Parabellum windshield and I'd say that for any speeds under 80mph my Yamaha ST is every bit as comfortable for long rides (500+ miles) than the Honda. The limiting factor now for me continues to be the seat. Fuel range on the ST10 is less but very few of my riding buddies could do the 300 mikes my ST1100 could do anyway so I'm still looking for gas at 200 mikes. MPG is about 45 so far in mixed riding.

Don't fight it. Just sit back and let it wash over you. Once you learn to do that you'll end up with a signature line like mine. No more, Damn Yamaha. Instead it's, Damn!...Yamaha...yeah!

Three years ago I inherited my father's little poodle. Being a long distance rider at the time I said, "what am I going to do with this little dog?", and within a month I was saying, "what would I do without this little dog!" She's ridden tens of thousands of mile with me since.

That's what I'm expecting to say when I get to ride my new Yamaha. I'm so excited I'm afraid I might wet my pants! ::015::

A Star Wars AND Star Trek reference in the same sting?!?! What a bunch of freakin' geeks we are. All we need now is Leonard and Sheldon to make an appearance.

Congrats and welcome to the nuthouse, Dmcleane.
