OK, went to go on a ride, first in months, and I could not get my left elbow comfortable in my Klim Badlands Pro ('12) jacket. Lo and behold the left elbow pad was just cracked in half! The right one is splitting as well. Anyone else had this? I recall someone on here saying Klim was replacing armor at one point b/c it was too stiff. I called them at that time (2 years ago maybe?) and they said they were not doing that and had no idea what I was talking about. Interestingly these both say they are knee versions not elbow. The ones in my pants are both knee as well. I noticed on one or two sites that if you try and buy Klim replacements they only sell the knee version. Looks like it is just a touch wider than the elbow but otherwise the same. I have only washed the jacket once or twice and take the pads out when I do.

Does anyone know the warranty on the D3O Armor? This is T5 Pro. Looks to have been replaced by D3O T5 EVO PRO X RANGE these days. I'll call Klim on Monday, they are closed for the weekend but I'd appreciate any info you guys might have before I call them.

I bought an Icon semi-mesh jacket last year. I went to wash it this fall so I took all the padding out. The back pad, which was a orange color just like yours, had a small crack in it. I contacted Canadas Motorcycle and they replaced it no worries.

I wonder if this will be an on-going problem. Probably should check all armour. R

My buddy had the exact same thing happen to his D30 armor in his Klim gear about a year ago (maybe less). He called Klim up and they replaced it for him, free of charge! The only stipulation was that he had to send pics of him cutting up the rest of the armor, to not try and resell or use anywhere else.

I want to also report that this is a problem. I bought a new jacket and pants with this EXACT same D3O brand armor. The pads failed in both knees (tears at the corners) and the back pad also had tears after a single on-road only trip! I wonder how many people have this stuff in their suits and don't check them regularly enough for them to notice it.

This stuff seems to be good armor when it comes to protection but the durability certainly needs to be questioned.

This stuff is also used in a LOT of suits as OE...I wonder what the warranty is when not going through the manufactures for the various suits....?

Here's the company that OE's it:

I don't think that the armour deteriating is unusual. A year ago, I found that 2 of my jackets did this. The armor was acually in MANY pieces. As they were a few years old, I just ordered new ones for them and all is well.

I'd agree with you except for the fact that my suit was a week old. Of course, it's possible the pads in it were much older, I just didn't expect them to fail so easily even if they were a year or two old...

The pads in my Aerostich lasted years...
