cyclopes led light kit for Tenere

I just replaced my stock lights, on my 2014ES, with the led light kit from Cyclopes. It was a very easy switch. Fired up my bike and the lights are....wonderful!!! Nice and bright...and...white. I have not ridden it at night, yet, but it did "light up" my dark garage.
If you are looking to improve your lights on your Tenere I would strongly suggest looking at these....but not "at" them!!!

I'm interested in these but I'm kinda waiting to see how they hold up with the cooling fan/fins fully enclosed like they are with the accessory covers. Seems like they might tend to run hot and have a short life?

Jeff,

I would not worry about it. I am sure they will last a very long time. Besides, they have a warranty. With the internet they cannot afford to make anything that Cyclopes will not stand behind. I can tell you that the light they give off is MUCH superior to the stock light(s). Very white and spreads out to the side of the road so you can see much better.

Thanks Pete, I will be looking into this upgrade at some point since I've only had my Tenere since late June, I've not had much opportunity to ride it at night. What I have found through is that the headlight is aimed way too high! oncoming traffic flashes me when on low beam and the lights are aimed so high that all I see when flipping the high beam is a better view of the tops of the phone poles! I adjusted both beams down one turn, but need to get out and re-test, not sure how course the adjustment threads are. The adjustment on my ST1300 is ridiculously fine requiring lots and lots of turns to see an observable result.

A common issue is that the lights seem too high because the preload is set too lite for the rider. That skinny little guy in Japan sets it for his weight, not a US average weight rider.

Nor for the average UK rider methinks. I was blinding the local owl population with low beam, on my first night-time ride. So much easier to adjust the lights on an S10 that on a Tiger 955i though. ???

I finally adjusted mine a little, even with the preload up it was causing issues with other vehicles.. haven't had a chance to test it out, just used the garage wall to drop it about 3 inches, might be too much.

It will be interesting to see how the aftermarket LED light bulbs evolve regarding reliability and focus. In Japan they are commonly sold with a "ribbon" style cooling mechanism on them as the fans are viewed as unreliable.

I'll be sticking with the Morimoto Elite HID system I added to mine. It works great with the shutter system, being extremely bright and well focused.

Mine is way too high on the low beam just sitting on the center stand so it think it's off regardless of whether the bike is loaded or not.

My dealer adjusted mine perfectly for me. They have to be to pass inspection. I weigh about 200 lbs.

That's pretty far off! You might double check that the bulbs are seated correctly, and even the entire headlight housing is seated correctly, before getting in there and adjusting them. This has happened from the factory, though more often it's owner error when changing a burned out bulb, (the things we do to ourselves, eh ;D ) I'm sure you know if you've been in there, so unlikely anything you did. Always good to double check before adjusting though. One rider got the headlight assy wonky when installing a headlight guard too.

Bought the bike new in June, headlight's never been touched, no bulbs replaced, no tip overs.

Used to get Headlight Flashed when I first got my 2015 ES. I tried adding preload but decided that was not a fix. I turned the adjustment Down 1/4 turn. I normally ride in the dark due to poor night vision but one on my favorite rides is an evening ride on the Sacramento River. Since the adjustment I have not received a Flash.

I re-aimed them using a method I found on-line, took two full turns to bring them in. Haven't had a chance to check riding at night yet.
