Do you think cycles can hear you while you're calling them all sorts of offensive names while lifting them?

I've at least decided to not carry the 6 ft long 2x4. That idea will have to wait while I de-thorn the saguaro cactus I'll use instead.

It always amazes me in the desert - the middle of nowhere - how much crap is laying around, especially near a road or where water may have run.

We have a replica tanks in the savannah just south of town. A favorite dual sport ride is to "find the tank". Yeah, there's lots of stuff littering the roadside out there. The question becomes: Do I depend on that to lift while alone? Ummmm, I don't think so...

If you have anything to add about it's use, I would like to hear about it. There are very few 1st person accounts about using these things. Thanks.

Sorry, I've been busy and did not check this thread. The hoist has been very useful and I have no complaints. I removed the rear seat and strap it across that section in a dry bag I purchased just for that. That way, I can get to it with the bike on the ground. I am not a weakling, and I don't immediately break-out the hoist when I drop the bike. Every single time I really needed it, it worked. ::008::

I saw mention of getting the bike in gear to slow down the roll a way, shifter might be under the bike tho... might I suggest a velcro strap or bungee to strap down the brake lever. The velcro strap can just be wound around the bars till needed.

Thanks, Don. Yup, good idea, and I already do carry one. That's a good place to put it (mine is in the tire repair kit) if you have room remaining on the bars. Good Idea!
