Howdy folks,

After riding the same bike for the last 15 years (2002 Aprilia RST1000) I've been considering picking up something a little newer and have been looking hard at the ST. Aside from color options, is there any appreciable difference between the 2014-2017 models?

Official word is NO difference.

Certainly nothing proven.

Wellllll, there is that thing about ES and non-ES. But other than that....what they said.

Yeah. I wish the ES came in the 60th anniversary colors. I really like the classic yellow and black Yamaha scheme. :/

Thanks for the clarification guys.

There are a LOT of left over 2016 Std models in the 60th anniversary colors. You might find a dealer that would swap the tank and two colored panels to an ES for you. Or an owner that would be interested in doing that.

I just bought a red '15. I just had the two panels wrapped in a matte black color since 'arrest me red' is not my favorite color. ;D Had I been changing the tank too*, I'd have put a post on the forum hoping to find someone with a black or matte color, or that sweet silver that wanted red and swapped the tank and upper panels.

(*I have a different tank that's going on anyway)

Yellow with black stickers coming right up.

Seriously, you're only looking at painting the tank and two upper side panels. Three parts with minimal prep, four if the fender isn't a black one. Fred painted his before putting the first mile on it and a few others have too.

No. Once you start painting you gotta FINISH where Yamaha wouldn't\couldn't. ;)

Panniers, Exhaust cover, Side covers, helmet, rims, .........lol

As our buddy in San Diego explained, you aren't just painting, you're pimping it out.

Or just take Henry Ford's approach... You can have any color you want, as long as it's black!

Black goes with everything. 8)

I did/do too. But I knew that I wanted an ES, and ended up with the '17 pearl Cobalt Blue, and might even like it better. I'm too lazy/impatient to do all the painting.
