That's a lot of faffing about for cruise control. I'll be sticking to the manual system as I don't tend to use it much.

Clip-on Crampbuster is a very low-tech option. I have them on both of my bikes and it will probably go on the Tenere when it gets here too.

I am following this project closely, as I would like to do that on my S10. I put serveral on ST1300's and they are great when you are taking a several hundred mile trip on some of the long boring interstates we have here in the USA. Once you have tried one, there is no comparison with cramp busters or throttle locks. My S10 will be my sport touring bike, which means there will be times I will be touring and have to take some of those super slabs and an electronic cruise control is is a very useful accessory in those situations.

I agree I'm riding a 1987 Venture now with electronic cruise.. The only problem with it is it won't set above 85 mph

When I bought the RT I got the option package with cruise. Didn't think I would use it very often, but as others have stated it is very nice in certain situations. I guess I've gotten spoiled but this is something I would like to have on the Tenere.

Used it all the time on 07 K12GT, probably saved me lots of speeding tickets. Oh, and it would engage over 120ish, so I heard. 8)

I have electronic cruise on my Goldwing and it does make long rides on the supper slabs less tiring.. I rode a wee strom with the Crampbuster and did not find it to my liking. It seemed to get in the way in the twisties.. Maybe more time with it.... :-\

That's the best thing about cruise control in my cage - keeps my speed down.

Doesn't that sort of defeat part A? ;)

I usually just slide my yellow colored Caterpillar "O" ring between the grip and the end of the handlebar. Don't use the black color ring as it isn't the same material and slips.

I have used CC on BMW k1200 lt , it was a nice option to have on highways. I bought the Kaoko CC for my s10 , it works well, I can rest my hand now. It's also a cheap and easy alternative to electronic CC's.

I remember installing my AudioVoc CCS100 onto my ST1300. I had over 12 hours installing that damn thing. I even had the step by step pictures some kind man off of the ST Owners club provided. MY problem with my "tighty-ness" is I just didn't install all of the wires and the EXCESS that just hung around.....noooo that would of been easy. I had to measure each wire and route it to where it was going, then cut and splice it, make a nice butt solder, then install. That is the part i enjoy doing to make it look as close to factory as possible.
During the install on the throttle body, I stripped one of the brass bolts which held stuff in place. I panic, then analysed, then searched for a proper tap/die in metric than got lucky and made it work. I thought for a second I was going to have to purchase a used set of Throttle-Bodies since it wasn't a serviceable part I was messing with. Glad that was out of the way!!!
The whole thing stopped working after several months. I never looked into why it was this way. It could have been a leaky vacuum tube, or a bad control panel, who knows!!

I did the Audiovox CCS 100 install on 3 of my ST1300's and did a few for friends and got it down to about 4 hours after that much experience. The ones I did for my bikes, though took about twice that long, as I did some microsurgery to install and wire switches in the left hand control pod instead of using the big Audiovox control panel. This one , from my 05 ST1300 shows 3 momentary switches, but on my last one, on my 08 ST1300 I used 2 of these for set and resume and a small toggle switch for on/off. Looked pretty good and was very handy to just reach your left forefinger and push the control buttons.

Well, I was going to insert a pic from my file, but the icon above that says "insert image: doesn't get it for me. Anybody got a clue of how to insert a pic from my computer file?
