Yes lets not forget the rear brake switch can fail also. While the front switch is most often the culprit the rear switch can be problematic too.

And it will get gooed up sometimes. My kid told me his rear pedal on his FJR was sticking. Kids . . . . After a clean and lube, it worked perfectly. And he doesn't ride in the rain.
