Hi all,

since my bike does not have any crash protection I an m looking into some options.
I really like the bars of Outback motek or the bars from Givi.
Can anyone give me any recommendations on these two?

Furthermore am I looking onto what to do with my skidplate. I heard some rumors that the OEM(currently fitted) is not great. I am not planning on going offroad, so would the aluminium skidplate be sufficient?

I’m also interested into some of the accessories that the worldcrosser had as an option. Especially the shaft cover

outback motek are great if you can get them, givi have a great reviews on standing up to crash damage to, either are good

the oem one is mounted at the back onto the engine base so no good off road (skid plate), but if i was only road riding i would keep it but yes could still be unlucky.

the world crosser parts have been for awhile hard to get hold of now so you would need to be lucky to find one of those

It doen‘t necessarily need to be from a worldcrosser. I am just curious if there are other options to protect the shaft drive, since I can’t find any

Thread moved to appropriate sub-forum.

Not knocking anybody who wants to chime in but be aware there are literally dozens of threads about the pros and cons of the various crash bars and skid plates.

T-Rex racing has a great belly pan and their crash bars are very good. reasonable priced for what you get.

Not sure what year your bike is but I got a shaft joint guard for my '12 from Alibaba or someplace like that.

If you can't buy one, I'd definitely consider making one. The factory plate is a recipe for getting left pant leg caught while trying to deploy the kickstand.

Mine is a 2014 electronic suspension. Do you perhaps mind sharing a photo/link of the guard you got? I cant find any ‘knockoffs’

I’m in the US and got this one from eBay. Installed easily (‘23 ES) and doing its thing unobtrusively. I see it available in the UK (if that helps with shipping and availability).

Yea, I know about the heel guards, the stock ones fitted on mine are fine. So I’m not going to upgrade those soon.

For the shaft drive protection, I will going to try and make some of my own. My dad is a technical engineer and used to draw a lot of technical components, so I’m sure together we can make some blueprints to make a cover for the shaftdrive. It’s sad that no one done this before, because as far as I can find there aren’t any blueprints available.

As far as the Crash bars goes, I’m going to go for the givi, since that one is a bit more easy to get my hands on where I live. Those also are a bit nicer to fit with some additional bags if I ever would want that. And €100 cheaper than the outback ones.

Thank you all for the replies, and sorry that this topic had been spoken of many times before. I’m fairly new to this forum and sometimes have some problems with finding the topics that I’m looking for.

AltRider makes a nice forward shaft guard. Or at least they did!
