Crash bar, Rumbux, Altrider ?

Hello,

As of this weekend, I'm the owner of a 2021 Super T.
I'd like to fit it with a crashbar as soon as possible, and after doing a lot of research I'm hesitating between the two brands that seem to be the most reputable on the market: Rumbux and Altrider.
The Rumbux solution is by far the most economical (to be seen with the import price and more of the price of the product) with complete crash bars + the plate that protects the lower engine and the oil filter.
The Altrider solution also looks very interesting, but sold in 2 parts + the plate to buy. I think we're looking at a price 2x higher than Rumbux.
So my question is: what do you recommend? Is the extra cost of the Altrider worth it?

AltRider is not making these anymore for the 1200…..unless I am mistaken. If you see somewhere that has the crash bar and plates, can you provide the link??

OP is in EU. Last I saw, AltRider is still selling them there. Maybe just leftover stock? But yeah avail there not here.

I'm happy with the AltRider lower crash bars. I don't have the uppers; and it sounds like you are wanting those

I have the lower and upper AltRider bars. They cost more but you also get more. It is a thicker tube and it is stainless steel. I don't like the AltRider belly plate. Tabasco sells a wonderful belly plate. I have a T-Rex bash plate and I really like it. Tabasco's is more robust in my estimation. I like the T-Rex because I can change the oil without removing it and I don't make a mess at all. T-Rex bars are not bad bars either. My bike came with the lower AltRider bars on already. I like the lower engine casing protection on the T-Rex bars but it also makes me nervous as I keep wondering if it could snag on an object or catch a fallen branch if on a narrower track. So 50/50 on having that lower protection.

That's right, I'm from France and we cant find AltRider crash bar here, but not so much. Some parts can be found on discount but most of the time it's on steel color.
You are right, I'm looking for a full protection : lower, upper and skid plate. I'm pending of the quote of Rumber seller but If I god to altrider crashbar and acd skid, it will cost be probably more than 1000€.
I don't know if the extra cost is worth comparing to the Rumbux choice, this is what I am trying to find.

I don't know T-rex products, it seems to be good quality but out of stock.

The tickness of the Rumbux plate is 4.5mm, and 25x2mm for the crash-bar.

The official website of AltRider give the information for the tube : 1 inch for the external diameter (25mm), I don't find the information for the steel thickness, it's probably the same than Rumbux.

I'm waiting for the Price of the Rumbux but if the import and shipping cost are not too expensive, I probably go on that

Ordered my T-Rex crashbars and skid plate over the phone a few years ago, yes they were showing out of stock on the website but everything showed up at my address about a week later, I highly recommend giving them a call, they just might be able to ship to France, they build an almost unbelievable list of parts for all kinds of motorcycles over 1,000 different items !.

I like the upper crash bar setup just to be able to hang more stuff on the bike. At one time I had all the lights up high:

I now have them lower and I have a bag from wolf man luggage meant for a Primus bottle, but instead I use it to hold my bottle of water. Without the upper bar I lose the room to hang that there and no room for the lights.

Altrider are the BEST, IMOP... (Material / engineering point of view) Very hard to get these days, even used, worth it.... .

If an improved version of the upper crash bar was available, who would buy? The market for these bikes is non existent. I basically fabricate anything I need for this bike anymore just out of pure necessity. Unless you posses those skills, nobody can afford the talent it takes to produced custom manufactured/machined items anymore. And for the price point of these machines used along with their longevity, they make the perfect case to spend the $$ for high dollar, high quality parts yet people bitch at the price. Even with all the custom mods done, these bikes can come in at a price far less than a new stock KTM or BMW is. Im sure there are others on here frustrated with other communities they are involved in because all that seems to exist online are questions like "what oil do you run", "what tires to buy" etc. Where the hell have all the skilled people who build shit and do actual mechanical work gone?

I'm biased, I used to be the US importer for Rumbux. The Rubux is the only integrated design where the skid plate is only bolted to the lower crash bars, not to the bike's cast aluminum sump. It's very robust and super easy to live with. 6 button head allen bolts to remove for oil/filter change. Very quick and simple. Customers that really abused the skid plate would take them off and pound them flat, then just reinstall. Shipping can cost more than the bars since they are coming from South Africa. I used to order larger quantities so the shipping cost was lower per set.

I started importing the Rumbux bars because I wanted them for my own Super Ten. I put ~160k miles on two S10s, both with Rumbux bars. The bars did very well to protect the bike. One weakness in almost all of the upper crash bars is sand or mud can push through the bars and force the side panel into the radiator fan, pushing the fan into the radiator and causing damage.

@~TABASCO~ made a side plate to counter this issue for his bars. He's an extremely skilled fabricator with his own business too. He sold the AltRider bars and has cut up many of them for custom projects, so knows them very well.

In my opinion, Rumbux and AltRider are comparable, but when you add in all the costs, Rumbux is usually less expensive for the same high level of protection.

I have a bunch of 1” stainless DOM laying around, I would make my own bars if I could find a good skid plate to go with it.
