Just received my Corbin seat last night. I opted for a front only, non-heated. I really had no idea what the colors and textures would really look like, but upon receiving the seat they were a good match for my Grey model.
The seat looks good, quality construction. I received the wrong seat model instructions, which you would think is no biggie, but there are probably a couple tips that would have helped. F
First you need to remove the seat "catch" from your stock seat and mount it. The corbin doesn't come with one. No biggie. The corbin does not have a place for the allen wrench that fits under the seat. For me this is not an issue as I've put the stock tool kit below the seat.
I have my seat height set on low. First time getting the seat to catch the higher position is a PITA. The seat is a snug fit and would only catch the lower holes (for high seat position). It finally caught when I put my knee on the seat and all of my 220 lbs on my knee to get the latch to catch properly. After letting it sit for an hour-ish its now easier to remove. I think this snugness is just part of the break-in process, but be aware it doesn't just "drop in" like the stock seat.
So, I've not had the opportunity to ride it yet, but sitting on it and going "Vrooom, Vrooom", the seat is comfortable. Even with the scoop it feels "neutral" Doesn't feel like it forcing you into the scoop. Feels natural sitting in it and moving up, the seat doesn't feel much different. Of course a ride will really tell.
I have a Corbin on my Ducati Diavel and had a Sargent on my older Multistrada DS. Comparing this Super Ten seat to my Diavel seat. The Super Ten seat is way softer. I did not order a softer foam so this must be the standard for the Super Ten. Its a very noticeable difference in firmness. My Ducati seat is what we all think of Corbin firmness.
Comparing it to the stock seat, the Corbin is just a tad more firm. Not much. If you didn't have them next to each other to compare, you'd think they were the same firmness. Seems Corbin just basically reshaped and recovered a stock seat…
Will report back after I take it on a ride. Unfortunately, it may not be this weekend as they are calling for rain off and on all weekend long..
UPDATE:
Just got back from an hour long ride. Not a big deal even on the stock seat. It seems to be an improvement. What I like most is that my thighs or hamstrings are not sitting on a corner. I'm short so with my feet on the pegs, I feel the edges of the seat on my hamstrings. Thats gone. The feet are on the pegs which allows some airflow to the "nether regions"… Even with the "scoop" it still has a slight forward lean. Not as bad as the stocker, but its still there. We'll see how that feels on a long ride.
I'll also say that this a.m. when I got on it, it felt a little more firm than last night. No idea why, but it is a little more firm….
So early report says its good. We'll see with my next long ride how it really feels!!!
