Stoned just reminded me that I never posted on three things.
First is that Conti is proud that they send the tires more or less clean of mold release. While the rubber was slick and needed scuffing, it was not the usual initial oily feel.

Second is that the tires were perfectly balanced when put on the rims, even without balance dots or other markings.
And like he wrote, they went on easy-peasy compared to the dirt bike tires I just put on a friend's motocross bike.

Based on these reviews, maybe these should be the oem tires. Good on road, good off road. With only 1300 miles on my Tenere, I'm thinking of getting a set of these.

I'm looking forward to trying a set if I can ever wear out the Michelins.

I got 17,000 mostly commuting and highway miles out of the A3s and still had tread left when I got fed up with them.

The A3's look like they'd go forever on road but don't really give me any confidence in their off road 20%.

Just finished two trips totalling 8000kms and the rear TKC70 is down to the wear marks and needs replacing. Also cracking along the centre. Front tyre is badly cupped or uneven wear and will be replaced as well. Both have provided excellent grip on a combination of mainly road and some gravel. Total kms was just over 9000 for the set. A lot of the road work was sustained high speed at 130km/h and pushed pretty hard in the corners as I am a big guy and the bike was loaded. Tried changing tyre pressures but made no difference to wear.

Recommendation. Awesome tyre for grip in lots of situations. Expensive. Doesn't last long enough. Not sure what tyre next.

I just mounted a pair. I expect a bit more mileage than most because I'm an easy rider. But will be interested to see what happens. I'm hoping that they wear evenly. Also, I am trying counter-balance beads to balance the tires. During the first 3 miles the bike vibrated a bit while the beads sorted themselves out. But then it all got real smooth. So far they haven't dropped out of place due to the static charge holding them in place. But I reckon if not ridden for a while they may drop a bit. The one thing about the tires is they didn't have the dot for where to place the stem. These beads have taken care of that issue with no problem.

First time I ever wear out a front tire before the back... They have been a great set of rubber, can't fault them at all, they gave me a solid 7500 miles, 80% paved road / 20% forest road under all conditions
.
Might switch to the new Bridgestone A40 or Continental Trail Attack II in the spring...
Cheers
