At my office the UPS man is warmly referred to as"The Brown Santa". :)

I had a set of TKC70's put on my bike last weekend. We'll see how they do. I've only ridden home on them for 20 miles. They were very smooth going down the road and I felt no different than OEM at fast or super slow speeds.

My tyres arrived today and hopefully I'll fit soon. The photos show them compared to k60s with about 10k kms (6k miles). Hoping for a much better ride on the road and reasonable on the gravel.

I decided that the OEM Battlewings were due for change after 5000+ miles....as an OEM fitment they weren't too bad ( my riding is 99% road)

So after some research I had some TKC 70s fitted yesterday they cost me £ 276.00 fitted inc tax.

Today was the first ride on them and they are very good, as yet I've only done about 80 dry miles but they are scrubbed in and seem to provide good feel, plenty grip, and as claimed a quick warm up, so far its a Big ::008:: from me

What's the road noise like? (even I laughed at that one) anyway, let us know how they handle the wet, I'm not too familiar with the TKC 70's. I also ride 99% road 1% roadside verge.

Do those have a direction of rotation arrow on the sidewall? That looks backwards.

Just got mine and yes, there is a direction of rotation arrow.

Tyke's rear is mounted correctly.

These have a lot more grooves than the old Anakee 3s, but still are not going to be a match for a big block type of tire when it comes to true wet mud.

Tyke I think you need to scrap this holiday to Greece and concentrate on getting some miles in on those K70's. It's bound to tip down soon so we can get a good UK assessment of this tyre in it's default weather setting - 'mixed'. Just a thought...

I've seen other Continentals with that 'feature', It would be a brave man to go peg scraping straight away wouldn't it ? Apparently they remove the tyre from the mould differently to everyone else to remove the need to 'burn off' the release compound. Or some such tosh anyway. It'll be a godsend when you get new tyre's fitted and it's raining I suppose.

Fitted Continentals Road Attack 2's to the Mrs TDM900 and she "let me" pick it up in torrential rain, I did not set out to see how well they grip from brand new, but they certainly did not have the horrible riding on ice feeling new tyres normally have in the wet.

I doubt they have 100% grip right away, but they certainly grip far better than "normal" tyres from new.

Re: Anyone tried TKC70's yet?

I fitted a set to my 2014 ZE model about a week ago. They replaced the OEM Battlewings at 5000 miles

First impression are that they scrubbed in quickly, some say that they are designed without the need to scrub in, but for me old habits die hard

The tyres, in my opinion offer good grip after quick warm up, I've only covered 600 miles since fitting and they are now nicely run in with even wear right to the edges.

The initial period was on dry roads where they performed brilliantly (I'm not an off road rider apart from the occasional grass verge :D ), however on Saturday of this week I encountered very heavy rain whilst travelling the 50 or so miles home over the very exposed moors here in North Yorkshire, I can happily report that the tyres performed extremely well with good confidence inspiring grip.

The tyres seem to be quiet on the road, and look as if they will last, but in that respect only time will tell.

Would I recommend them.....YES I would :)

BTW the tyres cost me £276.00 GBP fitted

Hope this helps

Re: Anyone tried TKC70's yet?

Thanks.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more talk about them.

I've had the remnants of the EXPs on and now have Tourances. But I'm still not sold on them. They don't seem to be designed for a big bore ADV and the EXP are discontinued for the Nexts, which I hate.

So with the TKC70's designed and tested for the GS I thought they might be a good option compared to going full K60 or TKC80.

Cheers,

Re: Anyone tried TKC70's yet?

I guess it very much depends on your type of riding and resulting tyre needs.

There are other tyres which are much more off road biased which may be more suitable for some TKC 80 for example

The TKC 70 is a 60% 40% Road / off road biased tyre designed for heavier ADV bikes so fits the bill for me

This report may offer some extra help ::008::

Have done 4,000km on a 2014E including 2800 Km 2 up tour of Tasmania - 75% on road 25% off wet and dry- tyres handled all conditions extremely well, best dual purpose tyres i have used.

Re: Anyone tried TKC70's yet?

Thanks Tyke, thanks Pugsley that's a gives me a good idea for my type of riding: 70/30.

TKC80 are too aggressive K60 probably still too aggressive so TKC70 may be spot on.

Got my TCK70s mounted today and have scuffed them in. That's about it so far.

It was good and hot in Ohio today, 80 or so, and I Ieft them on the driveway for a good bit before mounting. They went right on (No mar changer) and balanced out nicely.

So far they are smooth, not too loud, and transition right to left very smoothly.

I don't go off-road, but Ohio roads on average are rough and I like this type tire for daily use.
