Re: Considering the delay - why not support the vendors ?
Dude,
"backstabbing greed " Please don't put words in my mouth I wrote, " This opportunistic selfishness and greed disappoints me".
There was no reference to backstabbing.
I actually wasn't thinking too hard about either post, it was easy to write, because what I wrote matched my values. I disagreed with the idea, and put forward an opposing, and critical view, of the original post, because I thought what was suggested was wrong and I still do. I thought that writing a post with my reasons for disagreement was acceptable.
A far simpler post, in hindsight would have been better, something along the lines of , " I think that taking advantage of the disaster in Japan, and trying to cheapen the value of good old American ingenuity and financially disadvantaging those small businesses by wanting a discount when they have lost their market is a lousy thing to suggest."
All of you have the right to disagree with my post and try and get specialty vendors to reduce prices.
Many of us value good custom workmanship and want to support those who invent the specialized parts that we use. These small manufacturers are not getting rich making these parts.
Many who I ride with don't share any of the custom stuff they get made, outside of a small circle of riding friends, because it is not worth the trouble to explain why it costs so much to do it right (and safe),. When it has been tried in the past someone on some forum will always explain how they could accomplish the exactly same thing (only better and cheaper) with a used condom, a broken Motorola cell phone antenna, and some crazy glue.
)
BTW, I am having some specialized parts designed for and made for my S10 because they will add to my riding enjoyment and comfort. I would never bother trying to sell /share them and have to deal with the potential liability, the copying of my ideas, and the endless discussion on their merits by keyboard riders. This thread just confirms my decision.
So as I said before, let's just agree to disagree.

Dude, Don't think too hard about this. This is just an opinion/idea board. There are pros and cons to every idea/opinion posted here. Some venders might see an opportunity while others might see gouging. To each his own. Just relax. No one is trying to take advantage of anyone here. Mutual benefit, maybe, but not the backstabbing greed that you speak of.
