I am considering adding the Givi side cases. Looking for feedback on pros and cons from those that have used them. Do you need to put the smaller TRK33N on the muffler side? Thinking of the "33" on one side and the "46" on the other. Any one using this combo? Anyone using "46's" on both sides?

Thanks.

I wasn't impressed with the Yam cases so never had them, and as I already owned Givi E36 sidecases from my previous bike I just bought the Givi pannier rails...... hard luggage is rarely on my bike so they're good enough for my uses. I'm also not really a fan of having different sized boxes to take account of the exhaust, it looks odd to me.

I have the 33L / 46L combo on my Tenere. One thing to note is they are still 1.5" different width from the center line no matter if you use two 33L bags or the 33/46L set. This using the SW-Moto racks.
My biggest complaint with my Trekkers is that they are not really leakproof. I had the first set replaced by Givi because of leakage issues, but these leak as well.
Others who have the Trekkers have not had leakage issues.

I use Givi because I already had five Givi cases, 2 21's (side cases), 2 36's (top or side cases), & a 52 (topcase). I have used them in heavy down pours without anything getting wet at all. I think that there may be more robust racks out there for the expedition oriented who need the cavernous metal cans. I like the big ol' expedition look on the ST better than the Givi side cases, but reusing the Givis did save me quite a few buck over several motorcycles; just buy a GIVI rack & use the same cases. The side cases I use most are the little top loading 21s. If I am remaining local I certainly don't need to carry that much and they look pretty good IMHO. I like the convenience of using the same cases on either of my two rides. I like the 52 liter a lot, you can live out if it like a suitcase or transport a case of beer with ice ::008::

This is my bike with the Trekker luggage, 46ltr top box with 33ltr panniers. I went for the 33 ltr panniers because I though they looked more symmetrical than the 33/46 combo (I did try it), and the larger pannier made the bike to wide. When I bought this set up the 52ltr box wasn't available but I would probably have bought it if it had been. The Trekker internal space is all usable unlike many other panniers I have owned in the past with awkward nooks and crannies. This means that I can get far more in the 33 than I could in bigger panniers from other makes.

I mount the bags to the bike using the QD frames which means there is no scaffolding on the bike when I am not touring.

I too had problems with leakage and was in continual contact with Givi via my (very supportive) dealer. Eventually the boxes were modified by putting a pair of extra latches to put greater pressure on the seals. This has worked so if you do go down the Givi Trekker route, make sure you get the later edition panniers.

The only criticism I have now is that the panniers sit a bit high and I occasionally catch then with my boot when getting on and off the bike.

Hope this helps

Mike

I've got that same combo as above 2 33L and 1 46L on top. Frankly, the 46L is a beast in itself on the top rack and I don't know if I would want anything bigger like that 52L that's out now.

The 46L, as it is solo, acts as a sail in gnarly winds and makes my butt pucker level jump up to 9000. It is nice though as it can store a helmet if you're into locking it up. I put some 1" foam in the bottom to prevent stuff from rattling in each bag.

Have not had any leaking issues. I think what happens is water pools on the side case handle area and might drip in there or something, I don't know for sure what ever came of that. Obviously givi recognized something by the design change...

Keep your eye out for a new givi trekker design to come out soon too...if you look on the italian webpage you can see what i mean. not sure if they'll have that stateside ever, though...

Stock SW Motech racks with GIVI TRAX 33. I modified the racks to make them more balanced looking. There was talk of them changing their rack design, but don't know how that turned out.

Hi from the UK. I use the Givi Trekkers. I have the 33ltr on the exhaust side and the 46ltr on the other and use the 52ltr as a top box The great thing about them is that when just riding locally I can use the 33ltr as a top box I have had no leakage problems at all, but mine are quite new with the side clamps.

I have the 33 L with no top case, and I use the Givi racks. On the exhaust side, the bag sticks out approx. one inch further than the right side bag. I tend to like things very symetrical, so the extra inch is not that bad if I can stand it. I think the Givi racks give the tightest fit for these bags out of any other set up. Plus, the givi racks themselves can be removed in a minute or two with the supplied tool if you desire a clean look. The trekker bags are fantastic. Mine don't leak so I probably have a later production run? I love how fast and extreemly easily they can be removed and mounted, and you get 4 like keys, two per bag. It is a great set up. I also like the optional way they open up. You have the ability to set it so just the top part opens for quick access to small items. The silver sides do get dinged pretty easily, but it's just a metal outside panel for the ADV look, it's plastic underneath.

I have the same set up as " la-motor". I don't have them on my bike yet. Actually I don't have my bike yet. Just getting a new rack and am going to continue using them.

I used these for 39000 km on my Vstrom and have really grown to appreciate them. They are tough, water tight and hold lots of stuff. They have taken me to the Yukon and back and all over the western half of Canada. If the rest of the Givi line is this good you could not go wrong.

can't comment on the trekkers,
I have the old school discontinued e45 on both sides. They are light, monstrous, and can take a beating.
they are as wide as the mirrors https://thetenerist.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/img_3623.jpg

I have the 33L Trekker panniers on both sides and having bought the later model with the extra securing latches, I've no leakage issues. I also have the Trekker 52L topcase, which is also watertight and holds two full face helmets or all my waterproof gear. The locking latches can be a bit stiff and fiddly from new but I remedied this by stripping out the locks and giving the internal mechanisms a liberal basting with vaseline. Now they open, close and lock with no problems. ::008::

Pair of 33's with the quick release Givi racks. 52 for the top case. The 52 is huge inside but it doesn't look too big sitting on the bike.
I am not a fan of the 33/46 combo, from an asthetic perspective. Just my opinion.

Rode 8 straight hours in driving rain last year in Nova Scotia. Everything on my person was soaked to the bone, right through my waterproof riding jacket and a raincoat I had on om top of that.
Contents of all 3 cases stayed dry.

There may be tougher cases out there for the hard core off roaders, but these are functionally perfect as far as I'm concerned. Easy on/off. Easy access with the flip open top lid.
And I really like how they look. I know it's tiny, but you can see what they look like in my profile photo. The neon green thing is a NorthFace duffell that I strapped to the pillion seat.

I just mounted my 33L/46L combo Trekker Outbacks (Black). They look great! Need to take some trips for the real test but I like them so far. Planning to get a top case with backed for my wife. Not sure what size to go with yet.
