I missed almost the entire first year of this Forum, but I'm here now, and I plan to be around to celebrate the second anniversary. In fact, I joined in February so I snuck in just in time to be a founding member. And I can't even pronounce "moderator" and now I are one. Talk about Affirmative Action .......
I first heard about the Super Tenere in November of 2010. With mounting enthusiasm, a buddy and I attended the Calgary Motorcycle Show in January of 2011. I parked my ample ass on one of two Teneres in North America at that time, as I was led to believe. It was blue .... the black one had been stripped of its lovely hide to expose its inner workings.
Well, I was mightily impressed. I came back and put my deposit down and joined most of the rest of you for what I hoped would be a short wait for my new bike. You know the rest of the story.
I don't remember how I stumbled onto this Forum, but I did, fortunately. And I'm very glad I did. Pretty well the first thing I do every morning (most mornings even before I go pee) and the last thing I do each night is check in to see what's shaking on the Forum. It has become a major component of my daily activities.
You welcomed me and put up with my attempts at humor, and I thank you for that. You may have even encouraged them .... be careful with that.
Anyway, I've enjoyed this association very much for the past year, and I am looking forward to the coming one. More rides, more stories, more new products, more farkles, more new members and more pissing and moaning from me regarding weather, a paucity of purchasing power, and whatever else I can think of to whine about.
I'm grateful for all the new friends I've made and have yet to meet.
Chris, you've created something very special in my opinion, and you deserve full marks for having done so. It's quite an accomplishment. I have visited numerous other forums, and they pale in comparison to this one. Well done, old son.
I wish you all the very best in the coming year. Thank you for allowing me in and making me feel welcome. I look forward to meeting a good cross section of the Forum this July in Whitehorse.
Not being able to think of anything else to say at this point (I heard that ...), I wish you all a very Happy New Year, and my New Year's resolution is that every one of you survive the coming year with only the scars of excellent memories to show for it.
Please be careful and ride safely. Be kind to each other, and to all the other bikers you meet riding inferior products .... it's okay. Remember, they are simply future Tenere owners. It just takes some people a little longer than others to see the light.
Wishing you all the very best in 2012 ... any beyond. RR
