Clutch problem

So i was riding on Friday near Barstow, and after a bit extra labor in the sand I had a problem with my clutch. Couldn't get the clutch to disengage with the lever.

Figured it got some air in the lines and so I bled the clutch out and got good feel back in the lever, but still nothing in the motor. The slave cyl feels to be actuating and everything when the clutch is squeezed. Only problem is the clutch itself isn't disengaging. Put it in gear on the center stand pull the clutch lever in(with normal effort/feel) and press rear brake and stall the motor!!!

Bike is a 2013 with 6k miles or so.

Taking it into dealer tomorrow, but do any of you guys have any ideas? Thanks for the help

Ken

Don't want to do too much before they look at it for Warranty reasons. No point in doing it myself if it's covered if you know what I mean. Planning to put the bike on the trailer tomorrow and drop her off at the dealer.

I had - I think from your description - a recent issue with my clutch that sounds familiar.

See if this sounds familiar - http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=12964.msg210424#msg210424

I got them to warranty it under my YES. I am still not convinced that it is much better. I sure wish that I could have talked them into putting in the 2014 basket - I was willing to pay any difference. But Yamaha wanted no part of that!

Good luck. Let us know what happens

similar, but i get zero slip at all. Clutch lever pulled in, bike on center stand in 1st and I can stall the motor with the rear brake.

Maybe I will have better luck getting the new clutch basket design if that is the case.

I had the same issue with mine when it had only done 300 miles.
The plates were seized together and wouldn't disengage.they did eventually but made a terrible noise everytime I pulled away.
The dealer replaced the plates as they were warped.no problems since then

Sounds like the discs were'nt soaked in oil before installation.

What it sounds like to me is you slipped your clutch excessively in the sand and instead of your friction disks failing, your clutch plates (metal) warped from the heat, so now when you pull your lever in, they just flex from warpage and never disengage from the friction disks.

You sir were correct . now to retrain myself to ride this bike vs the small bikes I used to race.

Still had a hell of a time on the LA-BARSTOW-VEGAS trip.
