Hi!
I came to a point where I need a new clutch.
Sliping symptom in gear 2.3.4.5.6…no fun. Bike is a 2012 with 102 000km.
I’m planning to buy a complete clutch pack, spring clutch for the Pressure plate and wear parts associated…I am not installing a Barnett Pressure plate (budget thing:(…)
I’m planning on ordering online at Partszilla (Good site?) and ship it to my sister house in N.C where we are going in vacation soon.

Parts and labour in Canada for that job 1000$…too much!
Parts in CAN $ ship at US adress: 311$. Can
I found OEM clutch pack kit #Yamaha Clutch Kit '10 14 XT 23P-W001G-00-00. I like to know if It contain everything I need clutch wise…like the spring cushion and the plate seat (respectively #5 and 4 on the clutch diagram)?
And seeking many infos like torque specs if you can share it with me.
many thanks
Charles

Are you sure it's not a weak clutch spring thing? I've been a victim of that on another bike. Clutch was fine except for the springs.

Possible.
I want to have the parts in hands before opening it and We are going in North Carolina :cool:next week where the parts at good Price will be waiting for me. I will change the spring in the OEM pressure plate.

Seems like pretty low miles to be experiencing clutch problems but it does seem to be a way to common issue with the Tenere. My Goldwing currently has 586,000 miles on the original clutch and it’s still working like new, hopefully I didn’t just jinx it !

Don’t know how much of abuse the bike took before me. I have it since 2019/ 50 000km approx.
Just want to be sure to have the right parts in hands since I going to the States and getting the parts while there and its a huge (for my budget) différence in the final cost.

As Chaz wrote, it all depends on how much abuse the clutch has had - And owners who do a lot of mud & gravel hills, or slip the clutch using loading ramps, can really abuse the heck out of them!

Truth. I know a guy who fried the clutch in his ST1300 in less than 10,000 miles. Most folks go 200,000+ without clutch replacement. If you ever watched/heard this guy ride, it was easy to see how he fried it. Tons of revs and slipping just riding around town.

Just came back from vacations in NC with my boxe full of parts and I was really impatient to change my clutch. Really like how the bike pull hard now!

Nice work!
I see the divot on the end of the short push rod (top hat) from the steel ball wearing into it, did you see any similar wear on the long push rod?
I'm beginning to experience a problem of my clutch not fully releasing, but I have no clutch slipping. I wonder if my push rod(s) are worn which would reduce the release stroke.

You just put that seed of doubt in my head…
I didn’t check the long push rod…
I am planning on rebuilt the clutch master cylinder this winter . I will take the push cylinder Off and have a look from the other side if I can. For now the overall feeling is pretty positive!

I don't see a bad clutch pack. But in pictures 4/5 there is a thin wire. On my FJ, I had a "wear indicator" that looked like that. Went somewhere in the pack. When I brought my clutch into the tech, the first thing he did was throw it away. Said Yamaha put it in there as an indicator, but it could make your clutch feel like it was slipping, and you didn't need it. He said my clutch was fine and sent me on my way. As it turned out I was spinning the back tire when I hit 6,200rpm, and just thought it was the clutch.

Yeah , the friction plates don’t look too bad (still have to mesure them just for personnal info…) but the metal plates between the friction plates looks a bit burnt and blueish.
About the thin wire clip, I just put everything back like in the manual . Maybe an expert tech have some tweeks and tricks Than an newbee like me won’t even think about!

Yeah, when he threw the wire in the trash, I was kinda worried. But the reason I took the whole FJ pack in was to see it was bad before I replaced it. I had what I thought was a slipping clutch on my SECA. Turns out it was just bad springs.

Ok. I see. Must kind of the same problem with my bike I think: not wore out clutch but bad pressure by the spring plate. Instead of buying the Barnett pressure plate I change the OEM spring plate with a new one.
