Clutch drag?

Hi all,

Have a 2014 standard S10. Yesterday I was experiencing some tough shifts, and decided to clean and lube both the clutch lever and the shifter pivots. All seems well, but I noticed now that when I have the bike up on the center stand and in 1st, with the clutch pulled in, the rear wheel doesn't run free. I can get it to move by hand with some effort, but there's definately more resistance than when in Neutral.

Wondering if this is normal and I just never noticed it before, or if I might have screwed something up.

I'll assume the engine is not running? It is normal on this bike as the clutch plates have a 'viscous coupling' effect, so stick together when cold. Actually, a little even when warm.

Clutch drag is when you have the bike running, at lights, in first gear and blip the throttle and the bike surges forward, that's clutch drag. Which is what I have, others have not had that, some will tell you not to blip the throttle (all very helpful answers, not!). But what you feel is quite normal.

Ok, so sounds like pretty normal. The bike runs fine. If I'm in 1st with the clutch pulled, I get nothing when blipping. Bike shifts fine, no problems finding neutral, etc.

Just wasn't sure if that resistance I was feeling was there before, never had paid any attention to it.

There's quite a lot of write-up on this forum about the subject matter. The bottom line is it's normal.
