Yesterday I changed out the clutch basket to the 2014 version. Bike has 68000 miles and the vibes around 3200 RPM's have always annoyed me. Basket change corrected that.
Cam chain has almost always rattled on startup on this bike getting worse with miles. No rattle on start with new version CCT now.
First valve clearance check was done at 31000 miles with one exhaust .0005 of inch tight. Shimmed all exhaust valves to .011 clearance. Check at 68000 miles has three exhaust at .010 and one at .009. So they have tightened up a little. Will plan on shimming at 100000 miles. Intakes have been OK at both checks. Lot easier second time around. Biggest pain is waiting for RTV to tack up enough to hold gasket to cover for reinstall.
Job didn't go without a little drama. Bike would start yesterday evening. Finally pulled tank and air box back off and found that I had missed connecting the TPS plug. Hooked that up and it started.
Do recommend the basket change if you are bothered by the vibes of old style.
