Circumnavigation of Lake Superior May 17-21st, 2012

Hello all,
You've perhaps met me already...but I'm sponsoring a ride around the lake, thru my business. This particular ride is just for fun. Your expenses will be for your food, fuel and lodging. While I'm putting together a ride plan, finding decent places to stay, I won't be charging for my services.

This is about 1400 miles around the lake, over 5 riding days and 4 nights of lodging. I'm expecting mostly pavement with some dirt deviations along the North Shore and over in Eastern U.P.

Due to the time of year, it could be wet and cold...so the lodging will be a bit more comfortable, to dry out, warm up and eat well.

Could be a good Tenere rally for us midwesterns...

Michelle and I have been talking about riding around lake Superior. I picked up a map they were handing out at the show in Minneapolis for riding around the lake. It looks like it would be fun.

Just an FYI - Monday, May 21st is Victoria Day in Canada which could affect availability of some hotels as well as wait times at border crossings during that weekend.

Around Superior is a great trip. I've done it three times on a bike, the third time was last fall on the Tenere. ::008::

Sounds like a great event, wish I could get the time off to take part in it. Guess I need to be grateful that I have a job.

Update:

Reservations have been made in Houghton, MI / Sault Ste Marie, MI / Marathon, Ont and Grand Marias, MN. Total lodging per room is $350 for all 4 nights (incl. tax). All rooms have double beds (or better), so cost per/rider is very affordable. Let me know if your interested.
