Chinese Gear Indicator

SORRY GUYS, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MOD. THE GEAR CHANGE INDICATOR IS HAVING PROBLEMS DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND.

Hi,

I fitted a gear indicator to my 2013 ST yesterday, I purchased it on ebay.com from:

It works perfectly, for reference:
I connected the RPM pulse to one of the AC Magneto wires

Can I ask why you added an indicator?

Thanks Nissbird!! I just ordered one. At one time I didn't see a need for one. Then I restored a Honda Nighthawk that had one and to my surprise, I found I really liked it. ::008:: So I would love to have one on my S10.

I think that wiring diagram is in the service manual, so just look at that and you'll see for yourselves where the wires go using what Nissbird sent....

mine is a PDF and it is on pg 605, took a quick peak............ordered the doo-hickey. Now I sit and wait.

OK, I took " it won't work" as a challenge! Mine is working! ::008::
Nissbird, I assume your issue is because you tied directly to the rear wheel sensor to get the VSS signal. I tried that first and it will not work because the sensor is the MR type (Magnetic Resistor). They work on current change and only generate a very small voltage change. Not enough for the gear indicator to track. But then I remembered that when installed the Cruise Control, I had tied to the blue wire between the ABS unit and the ECU to get a VSS signal. I tried to tie to that this morning and it worked!
I plan to post the complete install with pictures as soon as a get time.
