I know the best skidplates for off road $$ and I currently have one. This plate however is wanted for 100% pavement use only. Road debris have been known to kick up and still punch the sump. Looking for that little extra protection. Lightweight aluminum or plastic would be ok I just don't want it bolted to the engine sump like some are so frame mounted only. Not worried about drain holes or oil filter access as I always will remove the plate completely for an oil change. What is available? I searched plenty but mounting method is typically not specified. i.e. Ricochet, Moose, etc.

You are absolutely spot on @Sierra1, my mistake. The aluminum plate is the one I was referring to.
Sturdy enough for tarmac only and some minor dirt roading…
That skidplate bolts to the engine sump which is what you're trying to protect. Any hit gets transferred directly to the sump. For me that is not even better than nothing. Would go without anything before I tried to fool myself that was giving me protection.

I don't expect my Altrider to hold up to heavy off-road. Which I don't worry about since I'm a pavement princess. But I have slid it over curbs/sidewalks; barely a scratch. I feel "stuff" hitting my feet all the time. More than any other bike I've ridden. I assume the plate is diverting the "stuff" into my feet, with any marks on the plate. I'm thinkin' it would provide the exact type of protection SilverBullet is looking for. It's not a complete frame mount, but it should work.

Looks like the Ravetech plate is no longer availability. I think I found the best light duty solution. Givi RP2119 it doesn't bolt to the sump and only a little over $200.

That’s too bad. It’s a nice fitting plate and includes a splash guard/panel as well.
