I put this out there on the Bakersfield Adventure Motorcycle meetup.com page. I want to do a day ride that goes about as far up in the sierras as you can get without going over. The end point is an unnamed lake near the John Muir trail. The one person on the other site that wanted to go is a S10 rider so I figured why not try to make it a thing. The ride looks like mostly paved mountain roads with some fire roads near the end.

The destination is 37 20' 9.19" N 118 58' 31.89" W if anyone wants to take a peak. 7500' elevation!

Eric thanks for the reminder. This is an area I have wanted to ride but... it is still on my list.

Looks like a beautiful and fun ride. I don't ride off-road very well so will pass on your trip.

When I do ride this area I plan on being in this area for about a week and this is one of the routes I will ride, https://goo.gl/maps/kY35cuQf2xM2 . The return route will be less fun due to daylight, https://goo.gl/maps/CJY5RtUmTDz .

Another route I want to ride is https://goo.gl/maps/iV4Ubc8SvAu .

There is 5-7 days of riding plus visiting some of the local tourism.

37.33589°N 118.97553°W in full decimal. I learned how to make the degree dot ° ° ° . ::012:: To get Streets & Trips to find that I needed that dot. ° Hold alt and on the numeric key board type 0176. When you release alt the ° appears. Then S&T converts it to decimal on screen. S&T also shows no roads out to that lake, even zoomed all the way in. Been wanting to visit Lake Edison for a while, can't make the 5th though.

I've done that ride a few times and love it. I would definitely be in for that ride if I was not stuck being on-call that week. Since we live close, keep in touch with any future rides you're taking.

The last route you posted I have done at various times in different directions and segments. The 190 and MT-90 segment is extremely technical. Almost to the point of not being fun on the S10. I've mostly done it heading downhill though. Uphill might be different. Sherman Pass and 9mile canyon are incredible. Especially the views on 9 Mile. Get ready for the BBQ in the desert.

Here's some porn for you to preview that trip.

The plan is to ride out from Chevron at Olive Dr and CA99 at 7am. Pickup a fellow S10 at the ARCO in Goshen, CA at 8am. If anyone wants to join in somewhere along the way, PM me.
