G'day Gents

You've established a sweet forum here. I appreciate the wealth of info. I've been riding 20+ years... most of the common makes n' models with some European stuff thrown in. I'll take the plunge (finally!) on a Tenere this week. And yeah, I'm pretty jazzed about it. It'll do well in the Southern Utah back country AND get me out of state in a hurry when I need a change of scenery.

I'm in the last days of shopping here. Looks like I have a good selection of new 12's and 13's to choose from. Besides the colors, are there any appreciable differences between the 2012 and 2013 models?

Thanks,
TS

Hi TwoShots!

So an S10 is what you sold the Glee for? "It'll do well in the Southern Utah back country AND get me out of state in a hurry when I need a change of scenery." Yep, that is exactly why I am looking at an S10 for my riding needs here in Aridzona.

Here is a discussion re: '12-'13 model year differences

I like this forum too, lots of informative good discussions.

That and an older BMW that was collecting dust! And a camper. I'm cleaning house.

Thanks for the link. Pretty much confirms what I'd found about differences - there are none.

I'm still swapping phone calls with a couple dealers. They're trying to shake off the black ravens, but I'm leaning toward a '13 in white with a discount on some OEM bling/accessories. I'm liking the look of the Alt Rider crash bars, too. But one thing at a time, right? I've got to get the bike first.

Nice work on cleaning house! I need to be selling off some stuff too. A truck, the FZ1, random assortment of riding gear.

Don't know what it is about them but I like the white ones the best myself...with black panniers. It is hard not to pre-farkle...must resist.

Cheers,
Eric

Welcome on, TS from UT. I've had both bikes. Wrecked the '12 just about a year ago and this spring bought a '13. Official word from Yamaha is no difference. None. And that's pretty well true officially, but I have noticed, at least for MY experience, the very slight throttle lag on acceleration is gone in the '13, and the seat is a little more comfortable. That's it. That's all I can find. The grey color is really nice, which I now have. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Wow. Small world, isn't it?

The white was tempting until.... a few minutes ago when another dealer offered the last matte grey one within 400 miles. Only $100 difference in the end so I locked in the deal. Saturday is going to be a fine and happy day. ::008::

The white should serve you pretty well with the summer temps you have to deal with. Gets pretty hot there, right? And I couldn't resist a little pre-farkling... I mean if tires rate as a farkle. Karoo 3's on the way. ::008::

Thanks. Drop in anytime, Don. And if interested, I have a clean, comfortable 1800 sq ft in-town bungalow to sell. Makes a nice base for easy getaways to some wonderful paved or dirt riding.

Pic?

That's how far I got when the Yamaha/Touratech/Revzilla/Oxford boxes started showing up. So I've been busy with that. I've farkled a few motorcycles over the years, but never so easily as this one. I'm amazed at the simple, practical way it's put together.
