I had my CCT replaced under warranty at about 65000 miles. Have always had a theory that the problem with the tensioners that rattle at startup was due to a leaky check valve.
Had my cousins Tenere here last weekend to do valve check. His bike has around 60000 miles on it. His CCT started rattling 4 or 5 thousand miles ago as we were finishing our 199 day ride last fall. Since we had his tensioner out to remove cam I took it completely apart and cleaned out the check valve very good with carb cleaner. He left Monday and has been on the road since. Spoke with him today and no rattle from cam chain since cleaning the check valve. Would be interesting to see if anyone else has same results after cleaning check valve.
