I had the OEM on my 12 they were ok at best. The locks just plain SUCK! I was glad to trade them in with the bike.

After doing a lot of reading and research I have Givi Trekkers on order. I like to be able to remove the cases without having to reach into the case. This moved many aftermarket cases down a few notches on the list. I also prefer cases that open forward like the OEM cases.

I have a set of tourmaster saddle bags I really like, the upside with cloth they are easier to take on and off while loaded, and they won't pinch yer ankle. The downside is they cannot really be locked.

I also have a set of happy trails panniers, I'm sure there r better options in that regard but they work. I do like the extra mounting surface of hard panniers and the ability to lock things up while u stroll around on foot.

I generally buy used acess, they are cheaper (though still not cheap) and ADV guys usually take care of their shit.
Right now there are OEM boxes, pelican cases and some really nice Micah's on the for sale site. All good cases.

I personally have run trax boxes on both my adv bikes, but that's cause what their was used available when I bought... I am happy with them however.

Great :(

Thanks for throwing that monkey wrench into my plans to upgrade (not any time soon)! For my needs I was set to buy the Givi Trekker Outbacks, now after looking at the Globe Scouts and the features. They are on top of my list.

One of the things I really like about the OEM panniers, is how when you remove them there really isn't any "frame" left hanging there. THese seem to solve that issue as well with quick release and install…

Looks like these are my new front runners! THANKS for sharing!

Globescouts are beautiful cases ! I thought they made Zegas look cheap. Definitely give them a look at least !

Nice looking box but I wouldn't buy any thing that's riveted and has the plastic things on the corners. Jesses are the way to go.

I looked at the Jesse's and one thing i didn't like was the fact they opened from the inside out. The globes open front to back or back to front which is a plus in my opinion. We had a few things tied on the back of the cases and when we stopped to open the cases we could just open from the front. If they opened from the inside out we would of had to untie and then open the case which would of blown. The globes have nice latches as well as tie down anchors on all 4 corners which come in handy. The other thing i liked about the globes was they look like a great technical/engineered piece as compared to most others. I find the Jesse to be a big block of mass that look horrible mounted on the S10.

Other things i like about the globes is the top nets and globe inner bags, well thought out and function great when removing stuff from the cases to take into the room for the night. The latches are excellent and robust. I can't say enough about the Hepco Becker racks. Love the fact 3 quarter turn fasteners and the two inner case latches and the side cases are off and sitting on the shelf. Excellent design !

Riveted or welded ? Last time i checked airplanes were riveted and not welded, doesn't mean much imo. Take it for what its worth, my post count is low ha ha !

Good points. Some of the same things I noted and liked about the Globe Scouts. I like the burly latches.

Seems like the Jesses have quite a few fans. So, I took a look at their site, and and honestly… I don't like the look of them and did see anything that would make them substantially better than some of the other high-end panniers. Also the shape reminds me too much of mini-coffins. For me aesthetics are a small factor in my decision was well as function.

I also watched a video of some guy who crashed on them and another guy was standing on the bike, kicking the crap out of them to get them working again, I guess to show how tough they were. Well, I thought cool, but those cases are probably done, sure they can use them again to get "home"… but I didn't think it really proved to me that they were necessarily better…

Someone in an earlier post, stated they wouldn't buy a pannier/case that had rivets and or the plastic bits on the corner…. Cool, to each his own, Peace. But when I look at the vast majority of Panniers, they seem to have rivets and plastic on the corners. I personally think the plastic corners are there to protect the corners like people putting sliders on their bikes…

So for me the Globe Scouts are still on the top of my list.

Don't forget to check out Micatech. I'm on my second set (motorcycle crash took out the first set, and almost took me out), and I like them very much. Solid, welded, excellent mounting system. Definitely worth a look.

Good luck. RR

I went with Wendell Cases (when he was still calling them Muffin Tops!) on SW-Motech QR racks. They don't tuck into the bike like some others, but they have been great for me, and hold quite a bit of gear (though not a full face helmet). His website is being re-done right now, but you can reach him at wendell@wendellcase.com.

Don't know why you would have to remove whatever from the lid on the Jesse's

Well I bent my Jesse's after this drop and used an axe and a stump to fix it. That was two years ago with no leaks.
