As some of youmay know we just bought a 2015 Super Tenere for my son. It only has 1800 miles and is in great co diction. I am a little concerned about a noise it's making. Hoping this is t a huge deal. Here is a quick video I posted to YouTube. Any ideas what it is? It's only noticeable at idle. Soon as you put it in gear it goes away.

Just rode it around and got it up to temp. Came back and still makes the noise. Only goes away when you pull in the clutch.

After doing some google searching for Terere making strange noise at idle I'm coming up,with a lot of hits saying this is totally normal and don't worry about it. Strange thing is I don't think I ever remember hearing this coming from my 2013. But then again I haven owned one for al,last 2 years so maybe it really did but I just don't remember it.

Sounds normal to me. A big twin like this can accelerate and decelerate the drive train components rattling the various clearances and lash between parts. Lots more bits join the party when you let out the clutch and start spinning the transmission shafts and all the assorted gears.

Having said that, you might be able to minimize the racket by carefully balancing the throttle bodies and get the engine running as smoothly as possible.

My 2012 made that exact same noise, rattling springs in the clutch basket was a major contributor, however, my 2016 also makes a similar sound, only much more subtle and less rattle, could be the low miles on my bike so not sure if totally comparable. I would say it was quite normal....... for the 2012 version.

Ever heard a Ducati close up... or at a distance. Sounds like normal chatter on my '12.

Clutch rattle in neutral - very common on a lot of bike and nothing to worry about unless it continues to get worse and gets really loud.
My Tiger 1050 did it quite badly and my ZRX1200r does it also.

Ok sounds like I e just confirm d what I've been reading. Glad it's nothing major. Was thinking for a second that it was no wonder we got such a good deal on the bike.

Well actually, when I pull the clutch in.
