I have been to Apache on Camelback for other bikes I have owned I like them, but now I live in Maricopa and work on Camelback so if I leave my bike there it is much harder to get a ride home. I bought the maintenance plan at RideNow so the bike was already there.

O-ring recall?? for the ST?
It was for the Gen 1 bikes, the O-Ring was on the fuel pump. Some got pinched during assembly, so they issued a recall. Mine wasn't pinched.

I still do not have my bike back from the dealer....

I went to pick it up last night and it had no power, I believe it is off a tooth on timing.

Also they broke my top case lock.

We are going on 3 weeks now...... Kind of disappointed in the dealer.

Supposed to get a phone call today with status.

You would think routine maintenance and a simple maintenance and cam chain tensioner would not be this difficult.

Trying to stay calm. ::010::

Sorry to hear of your issues. I had the CCT fail on my '12 at 89k. It took 4 months to get it fixed under warranty. (pistons, valves, lotsNo "wear" is covered under warranty. There are no specs for the cam chain in the factory service manual, so that's BS on your dealer's part. If it's "damaged", that's a different story, but they will need to send the part to Yamaha most likely unless there is a regional rep close by to come look at it in the shop.

If they didn't take the valve cover off and tried to just swap the CCT, it is possible for the chain to slip. There are some good posts on the forum about how to do it so you minimize that risk. There is some debate over what the manual says in terms of required steps. If the chain slips, it pretty much requires the removal of the valve cover to see the timing marks and re-align everything, which means they will need to order a gasket or two.

I have the '14 CCT in my '12 now and while my bike rattled on start up from day one, the motor is much quieter now after the repair and with the new style CCT. I have no reason to consider a manual CCT. Nor any desire to adjust it as often as I probably should if I had one.

Good luck and I hope you are riding soon.

Just got a call from the dealer so he says the timing was fine and that it was a plug with a bent tip touching the electrode that is causing the power loss and sputtering. (they just installed new plugs with my service)

Can one bad plug make it sputter and have half the power?

Perhaps, but you don't really expect them to admit they screwed the timing up the first time, do you?

Absolutely. The running cylinder has to drag the dead cylinder, so it's actually less than half the power.

But then Eric's right, too.

Since we have two plugs per cylinder... I'm not sure how much impact one bad plug would have. :-X

Got the bike back, runs great.

Dealer is either going to fix the top box or replace it.
