Anybody from this area have good eats places they know of? We are renting a house in Carlsbad from Sun 21st to Wed 24th. While there (not by bike) wife 2 yr old and I are visiting Lego-Land, Sea World, SD Zoo, Safari Park in Carlsbad, and probably the pillow hard each night, hahaha!!!
SO, if anyone wants to try and meet or grab a bite in evenings, we are game.

You will have fun fun fun. Bring your best walking shoes. When I worked in that area I usually would eat somewhere in Encinitas just because I like the town. Carlsbad is loaded with restaurants, coffee shops, and beach. If you have time and like flowers there is The Flower Fields. Another place I have not been to yet is Seaweed & Gravel http://seaweedandgravel.com/ . Driving south on I-5 before Oceanside, if you see Assault Vehicles and/or Helicopters, pull over to the turnout and watch them. There is the possibility that a tent city will be setup if the military is training.

That's an ambitious itinerary Jeff! You are going to be tired ----- well your 2 year old definitely!
If you have the time, my wife and I could meet you and yours. Don't know your culinary tastes -- pizza and beer, Italian, fish?
Pizza Port in downtown Carlsbad is a favorite, Vigilucci for Italian, Harbor Fish is a local hangout.
I'll send you a PM with my number. Give me a call.

Lego Land is right next door to the flower fields & the Carlsbad Outlet Shops. Plenty of great places to eat right across the street. Personal faves are Claim-Jumper, BJ's and Karl Strauss (GREAT Beer!). Take Cannon Rd. West from the auto mall (about 2 minute drive) till you hit the ocean & theres a nice little park right there for the kiddie to bebop around while you both relax. Drive a few minutes north from there and you'll hit the Carlsbad Beach Walk & Carlsbad Villiage Drive. Lotsa nice little shops to walk around & sommore good eats.
