I posted up looking for a Touratech seat....Ive had numerous people saying they've had one for sale..... all were scammers. They say they know someone with one, and give you an email. The person that responds to that email is a scammer. The person messaging always has a different name and has a zero message rating.

Buyer Beware.... It sucks that we cant trust anyone these days. It ruins it for everyone. :(

There's never been a time when you could trust everyone; the expression "caveat emptor" has been around since at least 1603. The internet just makes it easier for scumbags to find you and to stay anonymous.

Wallkeeper's list contains excellent guidelines to follow. And it's good to remember that the sorts of transactions you do on a motorcycle forum should be fairly simple; no one is making a deal for a multinational corporation in here. So the minute the transaction starts to seem more complicated than it should, like the usual "I don't have the item, but a friend of mine does, here's his email", is when I back away.

And for the love of Jeebus, don't send money to strangers using Zelle.

Were those scam responses to your post here or on Facebook? You can't post a "looking for" or "need" notice on Facebook without a string of scammers responding, but the admins on here do a pretty good job of filtering those (thank you).

Similar precautions should be observed by sellers as well. Watch out for complicated transactions and "proxy" intermediaries. They offer full or over asking price have an excuse why someone else will need to pick it up or receive it rather than the buyer you're communicating with.

More really good advice. Way too many scoundrels out there in the ether.

To answer your question..... The post was here in the Yamaha Super Tenere Forum.

..... Facebook is almost worthless these days... unless you can meet the person face to face.... with cash.... and a gun nearby. lol.
