Burning Smell, could it be the clutch?

I can only imagine what the dealer must be thinking when a customer comes in and says, "Smell my bike, is that normal?" ;D

We hear stuff like that (and much funnier) at the car dealership every day...

Ok, so it was there after it warmed up Friday night and whenever I stopped I could smell it. Same again Saturday morning while I was getting ready to leave but had stopped by the time I was due to go for the ride out with my dealer etc. Went out again Sunday, no smell.

Lights all ok, no excessive heat from the harness. All still running and stopping as it should.

Looks like I should just ride it and keep the silly questions to myself. I have a couple of others but may well just wait those out and search the threads a bit more.

thank you CDMartin884 for making me realise I was about to do. I normally send my girlfriend into the dealer with those kind of questions on her car, then stand back and chuckle to myself.

Road crap, i've noticed the s10 smells hot after shitty weather more so than my old gs. The engine is a lot more exposed and that big old can gets a lot of spray too. Just dont get obsessed by it and start sniffing the saddle or anything... ;D

I had this happen over the weekend, although it smelled like burning brakes when I stopped. Checked the bike over and nothing jamming the brake pedal and the rear wheel was free. I know I was not dragging the brakes so I'm not sure what it was? The smell went away after a while.

Mofarkle, don't feel bad . . . its a new and expensive toy, we all do it to some degree. The thing to remember is, it's not like a car where your inside and sequestered from all the noises and smells. Sometimes they are from our bikes, sometimes they are from the surrounding vehicles, sometimes they are from some unknown source. For example; every time I ride on US 1 near a certain mile marker I get a weird smell, like fresh burnt electronics. Come to find out after passing this same spot hundreds of times, there is a small factory that makes computer chips. Ride near semi-rigs in town and you will smell their brakes, drive through West Texas, and you get the effervescence of fresh manure ::008::
