Guys,
I’m need a new rear tyre and torn between the above two choices. I currently have a set of T30s which I know have now been superseded, so I could ultimately run them again as I have had no real issues. I ride pavement all the time but I would like to develop some off road capability and adventure on tracks when I can tour again. Traction in the wet is a big issue for me as I live in rain most of the time although Manchester is, on occasion, .
Thanks, your thoughts/advice would be appreciated.
Andy

Neither are particularly aggressive for off tarmac use. As @Nikolajsen said, the A41 is new, supposed to be improved wet traction. Both will be fine for two track until you get into mud.

You might look at the Trail Wing TW152 as a more open tread design, but still biased to tarmac riding.

Battlewing 502

Trail Wing 152

Battleaxe A41

Battleaxe Adventurecross AX41 (too aggressive for your stated needs and rather loud on tarmac)

I went from BW502 to A40 then A41, the A40 squared off quite quickly and was done by 6k but I was very happy with the performance in the wet and dry. I've only put 3k on the A41 but they appear to be much the same, starting to square off on the rear but loads of grip even in the cold and wet (I'm an advanced instructor and ride all year round). I've done a bit of off roading but only dry dirt and gravel, the A41's were fine for my limited skills. I wouldn't want to ride off road in the wet though.

I've used the BT 30 & 31 on the Honda; like it very much. Currently using the A41; liking it, but it doesn't seem to perform substantially any better than the 502s, although the A41 costs substantially more. I too am a pavement princess, so I can't provide any info for off road.

I have run A41s on my SuperTen but when the time came to change, I went with Michelin PR5s. Now the Michelin tyres are excellent as, like you, I only ride on the road and as you know, it rains a little bit in South Wales too. I can’t fault the Michelins but having said that, I would definitely put another set of A41s on at my next tyre change, they are excellent tyres and they suit the SuperTen very well.

By the way, I did over 8000 miles on the A41s including European trips and the rear was still legal and the front had loads of miles left in it. I only changed the pair as I did the 4 compass points of U.K. last September and the rear wouldn’t have lasted almost 3000 miles that I did.

I've run A41s for about 6k miles. I like them better than the stock tires. Good wear so far. Not really any off road other than some some minor gravel. Good in the wet. I'd buy them again.

The more i read about the Dunlop Missions the more i want a set. It looks like they have really developed a fantastic tire there.

Thanks for the input, I’m pretty much set on the a41s now, probable get another month max out of the rear T30, which has over 10,000 miles on it. Front still has plenty, so no rush for that.

For what it's worth. Checked the chicken strips on the A41s today. They are substantially thinner than what I had with the 502s. . . . to the point of being almost nonexistent. So, although I wasn't conscious of a difference, apparently there is. 'Cuz, I'm leaning further into the turns, and feeling just as stable. Can not attest to how they do in the rain. I mean, this is Texas. You poor guys. . . .

Its more like....how do those tires hold the algae covered concrete slab during low water crossings

But its a trick question.....no tire can stick to that slick stuff

Thanks, that’s good to know and believe me I will get plenty of opportunity to ride in the rain, every ride seems to begin with the words...”Weather permitting!” Enjoy the sun!
