Thanks guys, sounds like they should work for me
I have the Side Adventure Gore-Tex and yes they can squeak, but once or twice a month I use a few drops of Yamaha silicone spray and they are 100% squeak free for a a few weeks.. Non issue for me, the best boots I've ever owned!!!Dirt_Dad said:Just got the Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex. Only $320 + $50 shipping from a company in Germany via eBay. Very comfortable boots, but the squeak is insane. I knew I was going to be walking around at a dealership tonight so I left the Sidi boots at home and wore something else. The squeak is very attention grabbing.

Be aware that you will probably get nailed for customs duty at some point. My wife ordered some G-midlands from Motorstorm and had to pay ~$30 in duty. The notice came after she had the boots for a bit. Unfortunately, they leak and we have to send them back. Atomic Moto in Bend, OR was unable to get the smaller size we needed in a timely manner w/o a high special order cost.Ironhand said:I just wanted to post back with a bit of feedback. Thanks for all of the input. I ended up going with the Toucans, and so far love them. Just what I wanted as far as comfort, protection, rigidity without being too much so, and typical Alpinestars quality. I ended up ordering them from Motostorm in Italy. I normally try to shop locally, but for $330.00 shipped vs $450.00, I couldn't justify it. I ordered them on a Sunday, and had them at my door here in VT on Friday. That's faster than most orders get to me from the West coast.
Just a quick note on the customs duty with Motostorm - my new pair of Gaerne balance oiled came from them, and the FedEx bill for customs duty (extra $26) came in the mail about 3 weeks later. It was still a better deal than buying in the US, but I only ordered because I knew exactly what I needed. Having to make a return or exchange would have taken forever - as it was, from initial order to delivery was almost 6 weeks.EricV said:Be aware that you will probably get nailed for customs duty at some point. Great service from Motostorm, but if we hadn't been in a time crunch for a moto trip to Peru, I'd have ordered from Atomic Moto and paid a little more. By the time we pay the return shipping the boots will cost about the same as the Atomic Moto price. I ordered my G-Midlands from Atomic and have had zero issues, as well as great service from them. Several thousand miles in all conditions and a ride from Cusco, Peru to Santa Teresa, Peru for the trip to Machu Picchu with them and no leaks or problems. Broke in great w/o discomfort and are comfy for walking in now that the ankle area has loosened up from use.
You're going to love those boots. I retired my first pair from regular active duty after 130k+ miles.RocketJohn said:I listened to Dallara and got some Gaerne Oiled Balance Boots today... fantastic fit. Hope to get many many years of use out of them! Thanks for the recommendations.

That's what I need to do...my Gaerne Oiled Balance boots are great, but I am recently finding that the soles are too soft for standing with aggressive footpegs in rough terrain.~TABASCO~ said:Well I finally went fully monty and got some Gaerne Moto X boots.. I tried those on over the course of my "best boot for me, journey"... IMOP, the Gaerne Oiled boots are the most comfortable moto boots someone can buy.. As long as you don't stand on the pegs much... I on the other hand stand on the pegs all the time... The stiffness is just what I was looking for and really happy with the Moto X boots..... They have taken sometime to get use too on the Tenere. Ive missed some shifts and such, but they are breaking in and will serve me well......burnoil said:That's what I need to do...my Gaerne Oiled Balance boots are great, but I am recently finding that the soles are too soft for standing with aggressive footpegs in rough terrain.
