I got a Garmin Zumo 660lm for Christmas. ::016:: I hardwired it via Eastern Beaver 3 Circuit solution.

Now, I need to add Bluetooth to my helmet, so that I can hear the Garmin, listen to music and use my iPhone. Eventually, I may add a second bluetooth for wifey, but just for me, for now.

Through my Internet research, I have found the Sena SMH10 and Cardo Scala G9x to be the most highly recommended, and EXPENSIVE.

 What's the most reasonably priced systems out there, that will still do a good job, hopefully in the $150 range? I'm not looking for cheap junk, so if the consensus turns out to be the Sena or Scala, then so be it. Sometimes, if you want something, you just gotta pay for it.

I currently have a Nolan helmet that has one of those little "trap doors" in the side for bluetooth mounting.

Thanks, for your experience. ;)

I have a Scala g9, I have to say it worked very well until I loaded the latest software on it,V2. now it seems a little buggy, you will end up buying a second unit, its good to be able to talk to the other riders or your wife, listen to music, receive phone calls.
some of the cheaper units don't have very good speakers which you will find make them pretty much useless at highway speeds, you need it to be loud and clear especially if you use ear plugs

I have both and each works well. I prefer the Sena due to the large control on the side. Cardo was hard for me to operate with gloves.

I have the Sena SMH10, works great. To save money down the road you may want to check out the dual pack. IMO once you have your unit and see how nice it is to easily communicate you will want one for the wife.

I have the Sena 10 and no worries at all. Love it. There is a new one, I think it is a 20. Look on ADV there have been some folks selling the 10's so you can save a few bucks. Then in a few years buy a nice new pricey set when your gal wants one.

If you decide on the Cardo I have a set that is almost new that I maybe willing to sale. Just no need for both the Sena and Cardio. Will make you a more than fair price on both of the Cardio's.

My wife and I have had CB radios (now have Sena 20S units) for nearly 20 years. I still haven't decided if that's a good thing. O:) -JEP-

I went with Sena, because at the time it was the only manufacturer to offer a mount with a headset jack rather than speakers. I had custom molds done and always use them, even when I'm just running around town. They also work great when I fly for work.

The other nice thing about Sena is you can buy the pieces you need a la carte. I did this when I upgraded the module to the USB version.

I have had the Sena SMH 10 for about 2 years and love it. Recharges quickly and not a single issue with it yet. As others have mentioned, they are selling a little cheaper used from those who are moving to the 20's. ::012::

Good luck with whatever you choose ::008::

Hi Ridemyst! Welcome to the Tenere' world? Have you converted?
All, I too have the Sena S10 and have had it since they came out with the second version... The one that can be updated. I love it. Is it perfect... No but what is and Sena stands behind it and keeps bringing out updates with improvements!
The group I ride with the most... we can easily have 6 show up for a ride and so I too had gotten the SR10 and a GMRS radio the audio goes through the Sena speakers. It works well but frankly I'm spoiled with the Sena... I have a problem with the PTT button when using the GMRS radio. It seems I usually need to tell all of gravel or a dog while I'm in a curve. That's distracting trying to find the button while leaned over in a great curve! Yes it's right under my thumb.
Anyway I'm sold on the Sena!
YMMV

I'll second that. The Sena SMH10 is the best bike to bike communicator I've used to date.
Will third that. Wifey and I both use an SMH-10 and the seamless transition of listening to music to talking to each to taking calls makes the headset super useful.

My wife and I have the Sena SMH10R. Very easy to use. Very good quality. We use it mostly for communicating with each other and listening to music via smartphone.
