Bike leaking from vent hoses - is something wrong?

Hey guys me again!

I noticed after work when I got to my bike that there are small 1" or 2" puddles on the ground under my bike. I'm not very good at identifying liquids but I touched it and it was still wet, smelled it and it was light colored and smelled like a oil barrel or something lol

I've never ever noticed a leak in my garage but at work it seems to leak. The only thing that is different that I can think of is that it's parked outside in direct sunlight all day and due to the angle of the ground my bike sits at a really big lean angle on the side stand. Fuel tank was almost empty, about 1/4 left at best.

Other then that I don't know what would cause it. Bike appears to be running just fine. Is there anything I Should be concerned about? Safe to ride?

2016 ES with 20,000KM

Thanks guys

Nothing to worry about. Your bike is marking it's spot. Black tank, sunny day, the gasoline fumes expand and vent when pressure builds up in the tank. There is a small ball valve in the fuel tank cap that when pressure builds up, it allows venting of that pressure, usually with hot gas vapors. As the hot gas vapors hit the cooler hose, they condense and some of what vents becomes liquid, which then runs down the vent hose to the ground.

On a hot day, it's common for the tank to vent many times. On a 90F plus day in the sun, I've heard my tank vent every 10 minutes or so.

Thanks for clearing that up! First bike I've had that has done this, but at least I know its not a problem. BTW, what does "Tank Venting" Sound like? I picture a small fart :))

There is a hiss and ping/click sound as the pressure exceeds the vent spring and pushes the check ball out, then it re-seats. It's not very loud. I was sitting on the ground, leaning back against the bike, using it for shade on a hot day while I waited for a friend to show up.
