Hello all,
My stock windshield leaves a bit to be desired. My head/helmet is buffeted pretty bad and those slapping sounding wind buffetting noises get old. What is a good replacement windshield that is larger and offers more protecting from helmet buffetting? I was looking on Ebay and was looking at some Puig windshields. They any good?
Thanks,
Freebooter

There is much information to be found here on windscreens. I have found success on my previous 2012 tenere using the parabellum tall shields or the Cee Baileys offering as well. Both created an buffet free pocket and much quieter ride. On my 2014, I use the Yamaha OEM tall screen along with the MRA Vario spoiler add on that works great for me. No buffet and a very quiet pocket to ride in. they are all very easy to install and well worth the investment to me. Search out Parabellum, Cee Bailey's or MRA touring screen as a start. I am 6'1" tall for reference.

Hope that helps.

I have the Puig screen.it looks well on the bike and is very well made. I got the winglets at the same time and have the screen at the lowest settings. I find the combination perfect. No buffeting and nice and quiet now- even at high speed. ::008::

I wear a full face helmet, usually my Shoei Neotec and have had the buffeting problem many report.

On my ST I was running the Madstad system with the 18" screen and the OEM wind deflectors. That combination offered the best protection ever, provided a pocked of still air, so still I think you could smoke a cigar from the rider seat and not loose the ash.

big dual-sports tend to have buffeting problems because the windshield is fairly far forward. There is no 'one' answer for that any more than there is one 'right' seat in that everyone is a little different. Your height, how much of that is in the torso, how you sit, what helmet you use etc. all play into it. I'm 6'2" with a long torso, tend to sit far back on the seat and ride with a Neotech as well. The stock screen was next to useless so I switched it to a Parabellum tall, that helped a lot. Next I added the Madstad bracket. That gives you a significant amount of adjustablity (up/down, forward and back) and also helped a lot. I also added winglets which didn't seem to change much but can't hurt. If I had it over to do I'd start with the bracket. I'm pretty sure that would help you to get the most out of any shield.

Coming from the first generation Vstrom, I can tell you the Tenere has at least 75% less helmet buffeting / rocking. Hands down it was the worst bike for air management I ever owned and was un-rideable in stock form on the highway as it shook my head so much my glasses were getting jostled around on my nose and I couldn't see...while wearing a full face Arai helmet! I had no fewer than 4 different aftermarket windscreens for it and at best, there was still more helmet buffeting than a stock Tenere.

Parabellum Tall with a Madstad bracket here. Love the ability to move it around to find that sweet spot. This is my go to shield for colder days below 50 degrees if I'm riding street mostly. Had Parabellum make a replacement for my stock shield since it was so scratched up. That's what I use in the summer and offroad rides. Can't say enough about the fit and finish of their product, and they are a small family business with a passion for motorcycles...

Madstad bracket and the Puig touring worked great for me. The 14-16 Cee Baileys is a very different design from what is posted above. Didn't work at all for me- glad I found the Puig
