I was at the live event. I’ve ridden 90% of that new BDR in the years past. I would say it’s extremely remote in several areas. I kinda wish they dropped in a little note like “do not camp out on the boarder”. That would be helpful.
It looks like a fun one !

I've done the pavement out there ... mostly stayed away from the manly stuff .... getting older don't bounce no more...
they saw hand made crafts made by the cross border family's . park will confiscate anything you buy if they see it on you ... but I think they don't enforce it to fervently. nice that Texas has a BDR now .
for those who have never been out there it's worth the trip .
very cool that you were at the live event Mr. Tasbasco . they should have invited you to ride , no tenere allowed , I'm thinking . sad.

Yea…. I attended the TouraTexas deal by touratech. It’s an interesting “production”…. I really like doing the BDR rides. I believe the Big Bend X BDR was heavily sponsored by Harley and AlpineStars. There might have been 1-2-3 other corporate sponsors.
I do believe I received some type of BDR invite to ‘get’ to ride in one of there BDR films coming up. Maybe it was even the Texas one. I don’t remember. I don’t think the email I received was a personal email but some type of ‘mass’ email of some sort. If I wanted to join the ride for the BDR filming they wanted something like $8-10K bucks….. I then deleted the email ….. hahahaha

Even if it was free and I was asked, I actually would think about it. I’ve done TV before. There are “takes” and “re do’s”…. I spoke to several people that have been in several of the BDR films at the TouraTexas deal……. They told me they scout, and then do corners and ‘exciting’ things several times from different angels for effect.
Been there done that…. I just want to go RIP up a BDR…….

I would like to go do either NM or maybe UT next year if anyone is interested. This would not be a training course. It gets hairy out there sometimes… (I have several stories)

when one watches the the BDR film it becomes apparent that it is a major production .
its a very cool thing when a person has a talent and can use it to effect . I decide at 67 years of age to stop riding and sold my bike . it's seems for me to be the right decision . do I miss it , no. that tells me I made the correct choice . as my favorite movie character says " a man needs to know his limitations " I realize some skills ( or willingness to take chances )diminish with age . so after saying all this I'm saying ," if you got it use it " . them touratech people are doing some good things , but . yep a but . could put a bigger more honest emphasis on safety . there is some low skill person who might get talked into this and suffer accordingly . just my views .
yep harley and alpinestar were big players here .
the harley actually looked good out there(not performance just visually ) . I did keep all my gear incase I decide to ride again or buy again . but as I age dirt is not as interesting , you're going to fall , and that can hurt . so to be able to "rip up a BDR" is a good thing . enjoy and post for us old guys to enjoy .

A couple pf years ago I was headed down to the hot springs solo and as you turn on the road leading to the springs official park sign warned of vehicle breaking in parking area.
Deciding I didn't need the hot spring dip and maybe having to deal with my gear getting stolen . Park ranger later that day at Rio Grande Village when I quizzed about sign he stated that Mexican watch the parking areas along the border and when they have the opportunity they help themselves to contents of the vehicle. The Bandido's MC even have a chapter in the area , they are running two eating /bar establishments now in the Terlingua area . I have been going down to BBNP area since 1974 last decade I don't enjoy it now with all the changes in the area as I use to.

Yes Tabasco,
I would be interested in in the UT and/or maybe NM rides. I am recently semi-retired and my interest and passion is Adventure and BDR riding. Just starting out and recently got a 2016 super Tenere ( one month )for this purpose. Today i leave for my second adventure trip doing select parts of the Northern California BDR around Ebbets Pass and Carson Pass. The bike is proving to be trusty and plenty rugged, Next trip is already planned ( in a week or so ) for tent camping in Yosemite valley for three nights where my buddy and I intend to explore the many two trac trails in the area. I am intermediate plus level rider and have other bikes and experience. Not a tough guy but a loyal partner when riding with others where we count on each other for good times and possible mishap. I welcome your invitation and look forward to some great rides. Happy to follow your lead, Thanks David.
