Howdy,
After a couple of hours of wrestling the bike through some deep sand on stock tires I'm ready to change!!! I've always thought Radials were better than Bias tires but as I start my on line search for replacements I see most of the more serious dirt tires are bias belted. So I'm confused, one manufacturer even went so far as to state "bias belted for better handling". Thoughts?
Later,
Norm

...I thought bias ply tires went out with the war...

I may be wrong, but I'd never put a bias ply on anything other than a retro-fit for an old bike.

But - that's just me.

Closer to home, Heidenau K60 scout tires are bias ply. Many cruiser bikes still come with bias ply tires.
bias sidewall is harder to puncture, sidewall more stiff, cheaper to make and easier to steer at lower speeds - works for me ::003::

Alll these folks (except the two still on OEM tires) would disagree with you.

Heidenau K60
Conti TKC-80
Mitas E-07
