Bent right side Altrider bar

Well, I installed my Altrider bars and on my way down to the lake I came up on a tight turn, stopped and my foot slid out on gravel and the bike went down on its side. No real damage except the mirror tip, handguard has a couple of scrapes and my ego. The front brake lever feels loose but I don't know if that is me being paranoid. I was looking at the right hand side bars and they seem bent in a little. Looking at the picture do they seem bent in? I can get the panel off with a decent amount of wiggling. Any thoughts?

Can you provide a daylight photo. Have never seen the upper part of the bar bend like yours. Don't think it is a problem. Altrider builds a good a good bar.

What year is your Tenere. I ask because I had a 2012 that I dropped and the lower part bent toward the body. Same thing happened last week to a rider I was with.

That's what you bought the bars for, no??

Congrats!!! The first drop is always the most stressful, but now that that is out of the way, go have some fun!!!!

on a tip over, the bars may bend depending on how hard the tip over was.
they are a sacrificial part. you don't want them so weak that they just cave in and not protect at all, but you don't want them so stiff that they don't bend and transfer the energy to something expensive and not easy to replace like a frame or whatever they are mounted to and damaging that part.

The panel comes off with quote a bot of wiggling. I wouldn't be worrying about the bars if they hadn't only been on for six hours before the drop. They did do their job but does the right side look a little bent? I'm kind of surprised that that minor fall did that when people have launched their bikes on asphalt and they did t bend.

I just looked at mine and yes, yours looks a bit bent. If the panel still comes off it must not be a lot.

I here's a pic of mine about same angle as yours and they look pretty close to me and my bike hasn't been down on the right side. I have to work a little bit to get my panel out.
I meant my bike and your bike bars look adout the same

Just looked at my 2015 Altrider bars and i don't think your bars are bent. Looks like Altrider created more room on the lower bar... maybe to get the side panel off.

The Gen 1 bars look to be tighter than the Gen 2 bars. Recently was riding with a Gen 1 rider and he had a tip over on asphalt and the lower right bar was bent in enough to touch the plastic.

Thanks guys! I guess part of my issue of getting the panel off was taking it out of the back instead of the top. Much easier. Time to go riding. Thanks gearhead for the comparison pic.

Is anyone's front brake lever loose? To where you can wiggle it around a little bit?

Also (I posted this in the body/frame/paint section) but does anyone know where to get touch up paint for the frame? It looks like a really dark grey with some light flake to it.
