Battery warranty?

Just got back from my local tuning guru.... who remapped the S10 for me back in the summer.... I had mentioned to him that there was an occasional stumble off from ticker...causing me to stall when about to take off from traffic lights etc....Also the other morning, after it had stood for 5 days, it took twice as long to start as it normally does...

Anyway, the pressed a few buttons and got into the ECU and wrote down all the figures, then went onto his database and interpreted the numbers..... the battery was showing 11.7 volts... he said that was the problem .... he reckoned it should be around 12.8 at that time...he reset everything , I took it for a spin, and it felt smoother straight off tickover...

The question is... the bike will be 2 years old in June... if the battery is not holding its charge is that covered by the 2 year warranty?

I maybe be wrong, but check before getting all excited, batteries may only carry a one year warranty, add to that that the 'tech' that checks your battery may say it's within range, so be prepared to just buy a new one, they are cheap enough any way (motobat etc) If you go with Yuasa again, perhaps opt for the YTZ14S version that has a higher CCA.

Batteries are generally no more than a year warranty. That said, you are in the UK so will need to check with your dealer there.

That voltage is way low. However, the only proper way to determine the batteries condition is to pull it, charge it then have it load tested. Hooking up a DVM to see what the voltage is only tells you part of its condition. Here in the US nearly any auto parts store has a load tester... Normally, a battery is not covered by any add on warranty. Warranty would be thru the battery manuf only...typically they are either 6 months or 1 yr.

So am I better off with a motobatt or a Yuasa YTZ14s as you suggested, they are both around the same price on eBay.

Personal choice in that regard, both are good batteries, but the Yuasa is close to OEM also higher CCA..................
