Barnett pressure plate upgrade; well-worth the investment

After seeing various recommendations on this forum, and due to compulsive purchasing issues... I bought the 2nd gen clutch basket and Barnett's pressure plate. I really had no issues with vibration, but I wanted the improved clutch graduation from the Barnett plate as the OEM conical pressure plate is very "Off / on". I was also interested in making the clutch easier, as I sit in traffic and off road a lot.

I bought an aftermarket clutch hydraulic cylinder from offtheroad which made a difference. Finally, today, installed the 2nd gen basket along with the Barnett plate. Wow, what an incredible difference! We used the light springs (although my mechanic was worried that the engine's torque would cause slipping); feels great. Very light, very graduable clutch feel. Super happy with this upgrade, although it was very costly with all the import taxes.
Highly recommend the Barnett pressure plate in combination with the OTR upgraded slave cylinder.

I can also mention that I tried to mix with 3 light and 3 intermediate springs, but the difference between them is large. Even with the aftermarket clutch cylinder, 3 & 3 was harder than the original clutch. I didn't even try the hardest kit out of the 3 variants provided, but presumably they would be very hard.

Personally didn't feel much difference with the 2nd gen clutch basket (we did confirm that the springs had play), but who knows, maybe it would've turned into a problem in the future --> and that's why I decided to spend the extra bucks and swap it while we were doing the pressure plate upgrade.

Glad they worked out for you. Been using the light springs on my ‘23 for close to 1k miles now with no regrets. No tired fingers though haven’t done a lot of around town driving lately but after a long day riding no noticeable hand fatigue. Keeping a close eye out for any slippage which will signal the need for heavier springs.

Edit: I was too quick to speak; the weakest springs resulted in terrible slippage. Had to upgade to medium springs which are much harder. But no slippage. I don't know if I could've gotten away with 3 soft and 3 medium ones, but seeing as it was slipping heavily at max throttle around 4500 RPM I chose the safe route and went with the full medium kit.
I have full aftermarket exhaust and ECU flash, so I presume that's why I had to go harder on the springs than what has been reported here by others. Maybe a mod can copy this into my initial post so that someone doesn't read it and get misled by it. Sorry!

Oh good feedback.
Thanks for the heads up. I went out and changed my soft springs out for the medium. Hadn't noticed any slipping but probably only a matter of time.
Yeah, I thought about going down in pressure just to try. Guess not.

Today I checked the lever settings, one was on 1 and the other was on 4, I changed them both to 4 and really can’t notice any difference in operation.

What mods do you or don't you have?
Different windshield with braces, Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires, Trex crashbars-skid plate, Denali lights, Corbin seat, still using stock clutch and brakes without any problems I only checked the lever settings because of you mentioning it.

Second update: I realize that my discs must have been slipping for a while, probably since I did the exhaust and ECU flash upgrades. It's like another bike since upgrrading to the stiffer clutch springs. Sucks that it's "so hard" in comparison, but the OTR slave cylinder helps. Bike gained a lot of power to the wheel after the change we did yesterday.

So, we should probably not use the light springs, and most likely not a 50/50 either between the lights and mediums, although I am not totally sure. All I know is that upgrading to the medium springs made a massive, massive difference.

I went the 50/50 route and my bike was almost brand new when I put the Barnett pressure plate in. I've never had any clutch slippage. I also don't bang the gears very hard either.

I started out with medium springs on my '18. No slippage and can't tell much difference in lever pull. I do have Pazzo's on the bike. Finer lever adjustment is available but I doubt that makes any difference.
