Hey Guys,
I don't think I've seen any threads, pics, etc. of the Barkbusters Aluminum handguards (STORM) for the Super Tenere (for those of us that occassionally use the side stand, I mean the "horizontal side stand" )

so here goes...

PROS...
• Look great on the bike, nice lines, color (to me)
• Very sturdy (same as most aluminum handguards
• Nice, wide hand coverage
-when positioned properly (* see note on CONS)
• excellent, unique clamp design that curves underneath handlebar near grip, not connected WAY to the inside of the bars like others that interfere with ram mounts, etc.

CONS...
• * directions show to use with OEM bar weights,
when installed this way, the hand protection is several inches to far to the outside. because of the tapering of the guards toward the inside, (more so than the stock guards) there is less coverage where it needs to be and allows a fast "tunnel" of air to hit right at the bend of the elbows... a bit fatiguing after awhile...

A WORK AROUND...
I removed the bar end weights, but then the inside connection was off and the clamps can't be moved toward the inside of the bars as they get fatter.
Drilled another hole on inside of aluminum bar and now all is well. ( I don't notice any difference in vibration, but that might be because of the foam grips I use)

A COUPLE PICS...

pic 1 - a look at how far out the hand guards are using bar weights

pic 2 - hole drilled allowing guards to move more inside...oh ya, I put a bolt in the Xtra hole, so it looks better...AND I have a couple Xtra bolts! : )

Have the barkbusters on the Vee. Would like to get them for the Tenere but have a few concerns about fitment.
Top pic. is clutch side and it seems the lower bar mount is very close to the clutch hose fitting to master cylinder.
Bottom pic. is front brake and it is even closer,I would think any type of serious hit and you may still have a brake lever but theres a good chance it would take out the hydraulic fitting to the cylinder.
Any one using other brands their happy with on the Tenere? And yes these were installed on the Vee after I needed them.
