I went to take a lunch break and melted my dash! The good news, it's not the meter itself, just a plastic cover. Bad news? It's out of stock, with only 10 units available in Japan, no word on when they would come over. Good news? Found a seller on eBay, shipped from Japan! Bad news? It was scratched. Ugh, I traded a melted cover for a scratched one...

Since the part is still not available I will just live with it, but of course the scratch is visible right where the numbers show...

Spreading for awareness, I called RevZilla who sold me the screen to ask if this happens and they flat out told me I was lying. I recreated the conditions at 11 AM with the bar of light shining on the instrument cluster.

I usually always put a half cover on, of course this was the ONE time I didn't. At the very least put your rag, jacket, or other covering if you have one of these curved screens.

This can happen with the OEM shield too. Don’t park with the sun shining from the rear if possible. The shield acts like a parabolic reflector and concentrates the light on the dash. I always toss my jacket or riding suit over the shield when I stop. Doing so also hides my farkles from wandering eyes.

I've noticed dark spots on my dash if its exposed to full direct sun , thankfully it goes away I also now give it shade.
