I am not sure about how others feel about extra lighting, but to me, it's probably the single most important accessory added to my bikes. In the past, most of my lighting has been down low, off the forks, making a nice triangular shape. I know that it's the best position for others seeing me. I have ridden with others, and extra lights have always made it easy to pick a certain bike out, and bikes are easily seen when in traffic, as opposed to other vehicles not offering the same lighting configuration.

Has anyone used these lights?http://visionxsuperstore.com/SolsticeSolo2SquareLEDLight15MediumBeamXIL-S1102.aspx

I am thinking about these or the denali lights sold by twisted throttle. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/5224

I will probably make my own brackets, that attach low near the fender.

In any event, if anyone has installed these, please say how you think these worked out.

I saw those as well, they were an option. I like the housing of the others, but I am not sure they are worth double the price. I have used simple H3 halogens in the past and they have worked well.

The low current draw of the LED type lights is a real plus for me. These are 2 amp or less (IIRC) and typical 55 watt halogen bulbs draw about 4.6 amps each

I decided on the Denali. Even mailed twistedthrottle (which promptly answered my questions, BTW) and now I'm only waiting for funds :)

I'm really impressed by those LED lights.

It's a universal kit I believe. I don't think there is a plug and play set up for this bike, but I may be wrong.

I've yet to see the denali's in person.

I have some 4" HIDs on my ST and they are incredible, I wonder how good the PIAA Cross Country Kits are. Last I did searches on them there were some quality issues.

I have been looking at LED light and like the Denalis alot. I was them at the NY show in Twisted throttle booth and they are bight as anything, small and nice solid case. The Solstice Solo 2 looks like the same specs as the Denalis at almost $100 less. I think I am going to do with the Solstice solo 2.

Just talked to the company selling the Solstice solo 2 and they said it is the same light as Denalis, just dose not have their name on them. Plus it does not come with a wire harness just a pig tail out the back of the light with a plug and another plug with two wire ends on it. There is also no switch with them but does sell an led switch for them with a wire harness for $25.

solistice 10 watt with harness/switch = 287 shipped

denali 10 watt with harness /switch = 310 shipped

23.00 dollars is maybe worth going with Vision X, they look about the same.

I am sure I am going with LED though. I plan on making some brackets to keep them low.

like these:

What would you all think of a group buy for a set of these?

set up:
2 LED lights
Wire harness
lighted switch
mounts are variable, but they offer some.

I am working on it now. Just putting some ideas together.

So what say you.

Sounds good.. Of course it would depend on how much light they put out. ;D

The Denalis have some new D2 LEDs in the Twisted Throttle printed catalog... The catalog states 70% more light output than the D1s so those would be nice. I wouldn't do the D1s myself as they are just a little more output than a Halogen bulb.

My preference would be the trail tech HID or the PIAA Cross Country HIDs. I've ridden with HIDs and they are the best for nighttime in my opinion.

The main reason for mounting lights is to be seen in my case, therefore, saving 50.00 might be worth doing a group buy. I know nothing about d1 or d2 but I know that each is 10 watts, that is what I am going by.

Those new D2s look sweet! A sizable chuck of coin but they sure look like they're worth it, especially if they are as bright as they sound. The round bezel is nicer than the square one on the D1s.
