Australia off-road tour info

I know we have some "mates" from Australia on the forum and wondered if someone could provide some info on off-road tour companies in the different areas of the land down under. I am working on the wife (boss) to give me the trip and tour for my 65 the birthday present. So i looked on the internet for info, but it's always better to get information from the people who live in the county. So if any of you aussie's read this, let me know what u think. ::021::

What sort of touring and in what part of Australia are you thinking of?
I've not used an organised tour but can have a look for you. Desert, mountain every type of forest and probably more important time of year.

If by mountain, you mean "hills" then we have a few running down the inland of the east coast.

Time is important, in this land of fire and flood access to areas can be limited for many reasons, you would not want to be in the centre in hi summer with temps of 45 deg C and above common or in parts of the North during the Wet (basically a monsoon). Many of the mountains in the SE are snowbound in winter............................................ Are you looking at dirt bike touring DRZ400 etc (good in N Queensland ) or Adv Touring etc.
