Looking for a way to fasten Pelican cases to my Givi PLR round tube racks. I know caribou offers a quick release kit, but I am not sure I want to spend the $$. Has anyone used cushioned cable clamps or similar to fasten their hard bags to round tube racks and if so, did it hold well enough? I was thinking 6 clamps should work: 2 on top, 2 on bottom, and 1 on each side. 5/8" clamps fit the Givi 16mm tubes perfectly. I don't want to put all these holes in the Pelican only to find out it doesn't hold well and I have to epoxy the holes shut.

Not in that location or for that purpose, however, I have used those and as they are aluminium they will crack through stress at the part where the strap starts to curl to form the 'P' shape, so just be aware. You may be better off utilising saddle clamps?

The clamp he's showing is not aluminum, and I would think they would work fine, with the addition of using
fender washers on each side of the case. How many do you plan on using per case?

The strap is stainless I believe. I was planning on 6 per side: 2 on top so the weight of the case pulls down on the loop not the bolt side, 2 on bottom mounted the same, and 1 on each side. They clamp tight and I think if i used a good size fender washer they would hold well. I could also use the 2 threaded holes on the bottom rail of the rack instead of straps. Used with nylon lock nuts and padlocks on the cases, it should be secure.

I have a Pelican 1520 and im2400 to mess with. The 1520 is more rigid and solid. The im2400 is lighter, but more flexible. Not sure which I am going to go with. The cases won't be carrying more than 1-2 nights change of clothes or a place to stash the jackets while we grab a bite to eat.

I am also looking at the quick release puck style that is offered by several companies.

Not sure what your financial situation is, but those Pelican cases are heavy and the Caribou mounts are great, and you should think about being able to take the cases off.
I mounted a small tool tube with these cushioned clamps and they are not very solid and I am just waiting to lose it.
