There are no emissions testing / inspections for motorcycles in California, never has been. There are tighter standards for the manufacturers to meet for new motorcycles however.

So I would just have it inspected in its current modded condition and be good to go as a new resident (14 Super Ten)? I seem to be thick headed about the specifics. Thank you for your response.

I think you have to have a minimum mileage (7000 miles?) to register a non-California bike here. They passed a law a couple years ago that requires embossed information or placard from the manufacturer stating the exhaust meets noise standards. Cops can write you a noise ticket if it’s not present. I don’t know if that’s part of the inspection now or not. If it is I would recommend buying or borrowing an OEM end can to get past the inspection.

We have some stupid laws about bringing in vehicles from out of state. In summary:
1. Vehicles must be CA smog compliant (i.e. commonly referred to as 50 state compliant or CA specific model). I think there is a sticker under the seat if I remember correctly. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
2. Must have more than 7500 miles or is considered a new vehicle (dumb, I know) and might not be allowed to register it in California. Some exceptions apply. https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2/nonresident-vehicles/out-of-state-california-resident/

The last time I went through the inspection process they only checked the VIN and CA compliance (which was N/A because of the manufacturing year).

Do you still have to pay State Sales Tax when registering an out of state vehicle? As far as I'm concerned the DMV are a bunch of thieves. My eleven year old bike is $161 in a couple months, for one year. My 30 year old Toy truck is almost as much.
